This game has so many funny easter eggs in it

only about 5 hours in. Been meaning to play it for quite some time but haven't gotten around to it

There's just so many hilarious references in this game that just make me go LOL. I love how barret just calls the main character soldier boy and says it just like the song. How cloud doesn't give two fks about all the subtle moves the female cast are making on him. Also, heimmendenger going on air saying "what its not ready? its only 60%?". Or just in the middle of exploring, Tifa quotes a captain planet reference. Or the absurd new character development from the other soldiers in the FF7 world.

So much personality and character in this game. Loved how they brought back FF7 so far and reimagined it to something new, unique, and interesting. Excited to see the rest of the game, been loving things thus far

I understand you and I´m enjoying it as much as well (even though I am not familiar with the easter eggs), I´m in my second playthrough, loving the game!
Even though I sadly didn´t grow up with the original FF7 (but I now have it on Nintendo Switch though haven´t finished it yet), I very much enjoy all the characters and their lovely personalities and quirks in this game, also the story and cinematics! This game is truly both an enjoyable and beautiful peace of art!

It´s such a shame this game and Rebirth gets such hate from many for being so different from FF7. I mean this is a remake, not a remaster!

Well, they have tried to stay true to the original, it being a remake of that game, but they toned down many of the heavy dark themes, but remakes do this where they re tell the story but drastically change the story in some ways, which did happen here.

Is it ok If I ask about examples of the dark things that got toned down? I haven´t finnished the OG yet but I remember the part in the Shinra-building when they had to escape, and Jenova got free and left a crimson-trail behind (one of the things I miss from the remake, even though it probably wouldn´t have worked with the red carped in the remake).
But I also noticed that some things were toned up in the remake, like how creepy and f*cking disgusting Hojo is... And then how Sephiroth is litterally stalking Cloud and trying to break him psychiologically.... Like wtf is wrong with both Hojo and Sephiroth?! X
