Game is boring mostly
So I am enjoying the nostalgia and cut scenes, but the game itself is so boring.
For example, I just got dropped to the sewers by Don Corneo.
All I'm doing is following the linear path and pressing every switches I see on the way which automatically creates the next path by raising/lowering waters. Is this supposed to be a puzzle? I've had more fun playing a 2d zelda game and using boomerangs to open doors in dungeons. Like the only time I felt there was a real puzzle was when I was trying to lift Aerith using the giant hand robots. And it wasn't that fun either.
FF7 remake just feels like Map walking game, where I just walk through pretty areas in linear fashion and just enjoy the view. Also I am forced to walk slowly constantly for cinematic effect, and walking through tight areas sideways is so slow. crossing a tight rope with arms extended out is so slow too. As if Cloud can't just do a super jump to cross anything.
Game just feels like a pretty maze without any puzzles, showing off Unreal engine. And they keep trying to recycle areas with quests. "Hey, have you seen this area? We took a lot of time to design it, check it out AGAIN"
If it wasn't for FF7 OG i played years ago, I would not be enjoying FF7R.
I heard FF7Rebirth is worse in that sense.

Just your opinion
Why did you enjoy OG then? Most of these complaints pretty much apply there, too.
I somewhat agree with OP. The game drags on for way too long. Similar to The Hobit, the story of FFVII doesn't have enough content to fill three whole games.

? wat. ? ? ? ?

OG game = 5 hours in Midgar. Remake = 50 hours in Midgar

OG Midgar = semi-linear path with a lot of character building and story elements in 5x hours.

Remake = 50 hours of linearity and a sprinkle of character development spread over 50 hours and pretty much zero story being told except "We're ecoterrorists and want to save 'save the planet'"

You clearly never played the OG game, bro.
Is fine if you find it boring, the developers can't please everyone.

Just go play something else, since there nothing here we can provide to you.

It's a total snoozefest. Combat's boring, exploration is non-existent, it's full of boring cutscenes and useless dialogues. Never trusting reviews from rose tinted fanboys ever again. Man I cannot wait to uninstall this garbage and check if Rebirth is any better than this. Hopefully it is because if not well that's a definite waste of money.

And? Most of OG was linear.

What? OG's Midgar was quite linear. As for character development, Remake definitely blows OG out of the water for characterization of the cast.

I play OG at least once start to finish every two years. And to me, it sounds like you don't know OG FFVII or this game.

Why would you play Rebirth if you think this game sucks?

Because everyone said it's amazing and it won some game of the year awards IIRC? So it's probably better than REMAKE INTERGRADE.

It is basically the same combat and continues on the story trajectory with cut scenes and dialogue in the vein of Remake's, which you dislike.

That's how i felt...there was really good character development and its fine to put a pause in the action to let the story breath, but there were so many sequences that felt like they just went on for a little bit too long. (Sewers, the Collapsed Highway, Even the Hogo's Lab in the Shinra HQ, the Battle with Sepiroth at the end was unnecessary and just made the story confusing).

Oh wow, I had the same thought. Felt like the hobbit movies. Too much padding.
Game looks great, but the pacing is all off.

OG had a linear path as well and everything was more condensed they fleshed out Remake a lot more to give more content.

I didn't like it either, I don't care that its linear I LOVE Midgar in the OG but I HATE the padding. There's SOOOO much padding. You think you're done with a chapter or an area and then you get that unhappy surprise that nope, there's another 1-2 hours of it.

It made me feel like FF13 where I kept asking when do we make any progress in the plot AND when can I leave this area? It just drags waaaaaaaaaaay too long. It picked up a bit at the end at least and I started to kinda sort of enjoy it.

I did and I like Rebirth way better. Cloud feels much better in combat, Red is also amazingly fun, pretty much every party member plays better than they did in Remake and while Midgar is one of my favorite atmospheres and places in all of gaming history, it's hard to complain about being free on the overworld. It also feels like I have more agency over how much padding I have to endure. I can skip a lot of side content and do it later.
