OG game = 5 hours in Midgar. Remake = 50 hours in Midgar
OG Midgar = semi-linear path with a lot of character building and story elements in 5x hours.
Remake = 50 hours of linearity and a sprinkle of character development spread over 50 hours and pretty much zero story being told except "We're ecoterrorists and want to save 'save the planet'"
You clearly never played the OG game, bro.
Just go play something else, since there nothing here we can provide to you.
And? Most of OG was linear.
What? OG's Midgar was quite linear. As for character development, Remake definitely blows OG out of the water for characterization of the cast.
I play OG at least once start to finish every two years. And to me, it sounds like you don't know OG FFVII or this game.
It is basically the same combat and continues on the story trajectory with cut scenes and dialogue in the vein of Remake's, which you dislike.
That's how i felt...there was really good character development and its fine to put a pause in the action to let the story breath, but there were so many sequences that felt like they just went on for a little bit too long. (Sewers, the Collapsed Highway, Even the Hogo's Lab in the Shinra HQ, the Battle with Sepiroth at the end was unnecessary and just made the story confusing).
Oh wow, I had the same thought. Felt like the hobbit movies. Too much padding.
Game looks great, but the pacing is all off.
It made me feel like FF13 where I kept asking when do we make any progress in the plot AND when can I leave this area? It just drags waaaaaaaaaaay too long. It picked up a bit at the end at least and I started to kinda sort of enjoy it.
I did and I like Rebirth way better. Cloud feels much better in combat, Red is also amazingly fun, pretty much every party member plays better than they did in Remake and while Midgar is one of my favorite atmospheres and places in all of gaming history, it's hard to complain about being free on the overworld. It also feels like I have more agency over how much padding I have to endure. I can skip a lot of side content and do it later.
