when should you play crisis core?
so almost done ff 7 remake integrated part 1, and plan to play rebirth when it releases next week, my question is when do you play crisis core i understand its a prequel to 7 so technically it should be played first right? but then others have said do not play it till you play all 3 parts of 7.

I'd recommend: original 7, advent children, remake, crisis core, then rebirth in that order.

You should play it now. If you know nothing of Zack, it will help you understand the hype around playing as him in Rebirth.

Some will say you should wait until after playing the whole trilogy or after playing the OG FF7 from 1997, but I think that is wrong. If Square Enix did not want people to play Crisis Core Reunion until after the trilogy, then they would not have released the Remaster inbetween part 1 and 2 of the remakes.

Playing Crisis Core Reunion will spoil a twist that happens later in the trilogy, but if you play the prequel after the trilogy, it spoils the end of the prequel, because you learn what happens. You get spoiled which ever way you play them. So play Crisis Core now if you don't know who Zack is. It will add context to Rebirth. I think that is how Square Enix designed things by releasing the remaster.

Basically, I am saying play the games in release order, and, Crisis Core Reunion was released after Remake Intergrade.

Always production order.

But, if you aren't going to play OG first, but will play Crisis Core anyway, probably play Crisis Core now, before Rebirth.

Remake -> Crisis Core -> Rebirth

OG is optional.

What spoiler is better to save if that makes sense lol I don’t want to play crisi core if it spoils the end of the trilogy would it be better to play rebirth to spoil the prequel if that makes sense?

It doesn't spoil the end of the series. It just spoils Cloud's past, being a prequel and all. There is a twist about Cloud.

But as I said, playing the trilogy first will reveal Cloud's past but also spoil the end of the prequel with Zack.

Don't skip Before Crisis and On the Way to a Smile.

Dirge of Cerberus, only if you feel like it.

OG, Crisis Core, Remake and Rebirth. What happens in Remake and Rebirth make more sense if you have played OG and Crisis Core (and Dirge of Cerberus before Intergrade if you really want too) before.

Agreed. Crisis Core spoils events about Cloud's past, and all of that will lead up to a major story twist in the section of the story that Part 3 will cover. However, Remake assumes that you already know all that, which is what makes Zack's fate at the end of Remake so enticing for people who already know and so "who is this guy?" for people who don't already know.
