FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE

I've heard there are wild swings in difficulty, how true is this for people who have played the game? I am going to play on easy just not to get stuck somewhere, i hope i have no problem with the game.

The hard mode is unlocked after beating the game and you get to play as your previous save with all the weapons and magic you collected. Hence the huge jump in difficulty. Easy is not really worth playing unless you are handicapped.

Playing on Easy you're probably gonna be fine the whole time. The only noticeable difficulty spikes on Easy should be the bosses.

There are just some random fights throughout the game that you don't expect to happen because you practically one-shot every normal enemy until you come across the hard ones.

Basically, if you notice a fight taking longer than the usual 10 seconds, you're on a harder fight and need to use more abilities and play a little smarter.

Easy mode is very easy
Been playing on Normal without the auto attack assist until now, the only spikes sort of are some enemies on later chapters and not because of their stats,

it's just the battle layouts in which they can easily overwhelm you with surrounding + crippling status effects;

But not only i'm a FF og, i also understood how the battle system works really quickly with the pressure into stagger combos and movements due to XIII series;

Hard seems really hard though if you aren't prepared;

The game is not very hard. You might have to repeat a boss fight, if you follow the wrong strategy, but Remake is not a difficult game. Not even on hard.

Rebirth, however, is a ball breaker on hard mode.
i played normal, it was a breeze until one of the last bosses in the game

I guess it depends on how good a player is on action games. I just started and actually am adjusting a lot on the system. A bit hard for me at the moment. Just on first boss I used up half of my entire potions. The battle is very fast so I react late often and get hit a lot.

If you block while in punisher mode you'll counter any physical attacks.

Also hide behind the big debris when he does his big tail attack

Best thing I can say don't expect to do a boss first time each time, you'll have to either learn the fights, find our what materia you'll need or read a guide before you go in. There's some decent guides on IGN that give you solid advice on how to set up before you go in.

Yea I am starting to get the hang of it. Really liking the game. Seeing our childhood game in full 3d and voiced is very nice. Fully come to life.

Biggs looks very much like Charlie Sheen. I remember before I read that the creator of Biggs took the inspiration from the then young Charlie Sheen so guess now with technology they made him really look like him hehe.

I agree, og ff7 is the best game from my childhood and to see the iconic moments remade with todays graphics is amazing.

Though I do wish they squeezed it into 2 games instead of 3. The 4 year wait inbetween installments is painful.

The base game difficulty is pretty consistent. Hard Mode starts out easy and then kind of randomly spikes up in difficulty substantially around Wall Market.

Indeed, but at least we have something to look forward to and be excited about, which has become pretty rare these days. Part 3 is going to be the grand finale of Final Fantasy VII and it is going to be EPIC. :)

Also, the wait might only be ~3 years. Hamaguchi-san (game director) said in an interview, that Rebirth actually only took about 3 years to complete. The development team was preoccupied with with the Intermission DLC and next gen game engine adjustements for a year after Remake's release.
Ok I think I just found my groove on normal for a really interesting difficulty setting. Here is my setup/strategy:

1) put the game on normal(classic)
2) turn off minimap
3) dont use benches or rest

Here is why:
If you are manually attacking, you can just brute force 90% of fights by just swinging nonstop. Putting it on classic will tone down your auto attack damage to be equal to all members.

Minimap off means you can get lost in dungeons. You will eventually get good at memorizing landmarks.This coukd mean extra battles chipping away at resources? IDK. Maybe you will also miss some secret stuff making you slightly less geared up? IDK.

If you dont use benches, you will have to spare resources like mp and items (I rarely use items myself). Thos is goving me the old school battle of attrition vibes that I loved FF so much for in the past. This is really easy to do mentally because these benches are kinda eady to miss anyways. I am not a fan of doing stuff like this normally, but it feels organic to skip resting at benches.

I hope this can help anyone who is struggling with getting entertained from the normal difficulty being too essy.
