No, Remake is not open world. It is rather linear, with some freedom to go back and some sections with possibilities for light explosion.

Rebirth will be open world though, but not 100% freedom like Skyrim so much as progress per large open areas as you gradually travel the world. You can play Rebirth on PS5 (or when it comes to PC, probably next year I'd bet) without playing this game if you end up not liking this one. This one is pretty good though, if you like story heavy games (lots of downtime between gameplay segments).

The freedom Weltall mentions is mostly the town hub like locations and Shinra building.

Lame. I doubt this company has anything left anyways the whole FF thing has gone downhill and ill be the first one to say stay away from ff titles. They got greedy and lost touch with the customer they lost touch with what made then famous and they just dont care anymore imo.

Things change bro, for better or worse.

I would have been happy with a 1:1 remake but I'm enjoying what they have done so far.

No. It's open zone, like Borderlands.

The game isn't a true Open World, however you can revisit areas when your in the middle of storylines, which is very good btw. However, you are limited to a pretty linear story, but you do get some great Side Quests that lead to different areas and even Area Bosses for some loot. So you can have some fun walking around exploring but you are limited by story progress areas until unlock. But when you do finish the game you can revisit Story Chapters to have some fun and get loot for the next game to push your progress and have some weapons/Armor/Matera at high levels.
