I'm not sure why it would fail to save... This is a longshot, but is there room on your SSD/HDD where FF7R is installed? If there's no space for the save file to be made then maybe that's why it's failing?
**EDIT** It looks like Doomlord figured it out, maybe this will work for you:
Default Defender behavior doesn't do that. Windows Defender almost never flags a Steam game, let alone stops it from saving; even with Win11's amped up security.
If you just wanna play your game, do you. But I'd seriously run a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes when you go to bed tonight. Just to be safe
we did the same exact thing on my gf's computer yesterday, we added both the normal .exe and the _.exe file and even the whole steam library/folder to the virus and threat exclusion list and the game still fails to save manually once in a while. We decided to turn off the whole virus/threat protection.
