PS4 Button layout icon

Steam recognizes my dual shock 4 as Playstation controller yet the button icon is still Xbox.
I know the icon for the Playstation button layout is in the game but the change button option doesn't show up.
Does anyone know what to do with this?

Try going into big picture mode, hiding/disabling your controller entirely there. This disables steam input which can confuse some games. It should than be natively detected by the game and work in Playstation mode.

If not still, can try DS4Windows. (Third party app/drivers, google it)
There is also a known issue where the game won't detect your controller correctly if your using bluetooth - which DS4Windows fixes. If your using USB, it should just work.

If neither of those work or you prefer to just use a mod:

I actually used it even though I played with mouse and keyboard just because it still shows the controller when you to go to do keybinds and i like the PS one better lol

It's actually not difficult it's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Steam input implementation. The Yakuza games for example have no problem detecting you are using a playstation controller through steam input, even though Steam input's default behavior is to tell your game it is an Xbox controller, and shows playstation icons. Squenix just half ass their PC ports. (FFXV was a weird stand out exception)

For the record, unless you can't get Steam overlay to load in a game, which is only a problem with certain older games, games with weird launchers, and some specialK mods, there is no reason to use DS4Windows. Steam does almost everything it does better and with more features.

disable steam controller support for this game, it overwrites the games native dual shock implementation.

Then restart game if it was running.
