This game doesn't even go that far into the story.
It's part 1 of a trilogy, and part 1 here only gets you through Midgar.

They added a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of sidequests, extra lore and such to make it into a longer experience than it would be had they just made a linear path through the Midgar portion of the original game.

Actually FF7 was the game that started it all for all me. I am enjoying this story so far. But if this is just the first part of a three part story i would say that even at the current sale price its overpriced. But they bank on gamers like me who played the original and are glad to fork out money to relive a childhood memory. I hope they save Aerith because i replayed the original over and over to find a way years ago as there was a rumor you could save her.

Looking at the trailer for Part II, I have a feeling they completely rewrote the story going forward.
