Just a Hint Square...
With the sequel coming soon to PS5, wouldn't you think making the price more palatable on PC around that time would potentially lead to some people considering a console purchase and picking up your second chapter?

Why would anyone consider picking up the second chapter of a story on an exclusive console if they've been unable to play the first one on PC because your prices live on another planet.

Drop the price. Let people play it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how many brownie points you score.

Not at what I'd consider a realistic price considering the age of the game now

That's just economics, they see that the game sell well enough on full price after a long time = no need to drop. Low sell numbers = price drops faster. Some developers don't even care and keep the price up despite low sell numbers (JRPGs especially seems to have this behavior).

According to steamdb the lowest price so far were -50% with 35€.

edit: On PS Store you can get FF7 Rebirth combined with FF7 Remake for the same price as bundle.

I will simply wait for Rebirth itself to come to PC and get the equivalent of the twin pack that bundles part 1

When a game gets ported the date of the port becomes the release date

So even though Rebirth will be like a 1 year old when it comes to PC
they will treat it like it is a brand new game

just how it works sadly

True, but usually a game's base price will come down in reasonable time, making a 50% discount better. Square's insistence on it being £69.99 base price STILL is a little daft.

What does age have to do with it? There are games far older still 50-60 bucks just wait for a sale.

That’s the new price of games going forward can’t blame square for that.

wish i picked this up when it was on sale last time, no telling when the next sale for this game will be...

i imagine it's internal metrics

Around when FFXIII, deus ex: human revolution came out, They dropped their prices really fast within 3 months.

Around the time of Nier Automata and this remake they only drop the prices for specific sales.

I imagine they tried it both ways, to figure out which resulted in more profit.

I'm in the middle of Remake (Steam). With the glowing reviews of Rebirth, I'll be getting it.....in Steam.
Glad I waited for Steam version, bought it on sale 50%. It's got the complete edition with most bugs fixed.
That means, I'll be playing rebirth in.....3-4 years from now. LOL

Kind of a reach.

More likely that making this game cheaper on Steam will encourage more people to wait for the Steam version of Rebirth, since they'll assume it'll also end up being far cheaper.

The less palatable Steam looks the more people who will just give in and buy a PS5.
