Why does Cloud hate Shinra from the start?

In the real game he joins because he 'knows' Tifa and is out to become a merc but he still seemed to respect Shinra and SOLDIER as that was his lifes goal but in this remake he seems to outright hate them from the start even refusing jobs associated with them and is all for joining a terrorist group as a full member. In the original he took some convincing and circumstances. Just doesn't really click with me the way the original did.

Just about to blow the second reactor now but from what I have seen I haven't seen any improvement on the original characters aside from Biggs, Wedge and Jessie. Tifa is ok she didn't change much, I haven't seen much of Aerith since the flower scene but Barret seems kind of jarring in the original I liked the teddy bear tough guy but now he seems more like a Mr T rip off. I mean they even gave him a fear of heights to parallel with Mr T's fear of flying. Barret was cool in the original because he always did what he felt was right and acted on his gut whereas now he seems to be a more competent leader even paying up without a fuss. How is this guy going to step aside and let Cloud take lead when the time comes?

Maybe I just liked the more slapstick humour of the original intermixed throughout the game it kind of made me forget I was a literal terrorist but now I'm just stuck thinking I'm really going to do this? It feels like they leaned a little too heavily into a more realistic retelling.

I don't know I haven't really been blown away by this game yet hoping it will get better further in but so far as I said the only change I am in favour of currently was the trio.

It actually gets worse rather than better.

Those random ghosts you've seen are there for the theory bait section, where they tease this is a sequel/reboot in a different timeline and not actually a remake.

It seems you havent seen the plot twist behind nibelheim incident. We're not gon spoil it for you. The remake's cloud is simply more consistent with the background story

Cloud doesn’t hate them from the start. He’s a nerd hirered for money.

Now he doesn’t love them either: he thinks they’re a greedy capitalist corporation. But he has no loyalty to or against them at first. Uust looking for a paycheck and he has no qualms.
