[Spoiler] ]Remake part 3: what will happen?

Now that we have 2 of 3 parts of the remake out and many (shattered) theories in the wild what do you think will happen in Remake part 3?

Just a reminder what we know so far:
- developer statement that the original storyline will kept for most parts
- developer statement that Remake will canonically lead into Advent Children (Aerith+Zack dead)

- Story so far:
-- Remake (part 1): introduction of "whispers" / "change of fate" / "fighting fate" but didn't changed anything, the story is 99% remake of the original starting with the 2 reactor bombings, meeting Aerith, wall market Don Corneo, platefall, Shinra HQ infiltration and rescue of Aerith, fight against Rufus and escape
-> only the whisper endfight was tagged on
-> red hering with Barrets short death and Wedges shifted death from tower to shinra HQ

-- Rebirth (part 2): again the exact same story: Kalm - Chocobo farm - Mithril mines - Junon - ship - Costa Del Sol - North Corel - Gold Saucer - Gongaga (with new boss fight) - Cosmo Canyon (new GI stuff) - Nibelheim - temple - forgotten capital
-> ends with Aeriths death (even so it was misguided at first) and the crew preparing their trip to the north crater like in the original
-> Rockettown, Fort Condor missing (most likely shifted to part 3)
-> again tagged on endboss fight in forgotten capital against Sephiroth and this time we've got a little Zack combo action
-> weapons and huge materia seems to be merged this time it seems
-> Zacks statement that worlds can merge once again (hint that Aerith+Zack can popup again)
-> red hering where Cloud saved Aerith but she or Sephiroth merged realities where she died (most likely it was Aerith herself to become a real threat to Sephiroth (again)
-> introduction of parallel worlds which are created by defying fate but these worlds die off quickly (like we saw with Zack)

Imho part 3 will stay true to the story again from start to finish which means Icicle Inn - north crater - heroes get captured / Junon - Cloud goes missing - Tifas helps finding his memories - return to Midgar to finish Scarlet / Heidegger / Hojo - north crater. Only at the end we will get some parallel world action again but tbh i can't imagine which route the developer will go.

They could went with:
- defying fate which could mean erasing Sephiroth from the lifestream for good this time and maybe having Zack+Aerith jumping to the original timeline
- accepting fate (like the people in Zacks world did by accepting their death which also Biggs did in the end) and Zack+Aerith stay dead for the greater good

The only real hint so far came from the developer statement above that the events will be canonically lead into AC which would mean all this tagged on parallel world stuff get erased which would also mean defying fate was a complete big red hering OR they add a cutscene which plays after AC where some shenagigans will happen like Aerith+Zack popping up again (this misdirection can go both ways).

Difficult to even guess how the 3rd installment will go. Other than the obvious traditional direction story wise. Which you seem to have already stated. Really thats all they have left to cover. Not like they can deviate from any of that. Will start at the North Crater/Weapons/Meteor. Shinra on the hunt. Finally arrive at Wutai. 3 has a lot of ground to cover.

Personally. They are so intent on combining everything. Tie up loose ends. I see them needing to do DLC at some point. Tie in the whole Glenn/Wutai Rufus/Young Sephiroth even. On some Clouds dad 2,000 Gil type story. (Each time Glenn showed up harassing Rufus I was thinking why.?! 🤣)


I’d wager on Vincent DLC even For the whole Turks background. Too much is being added in otherwise. (As much as I like Cid) wouldn’t be as entertaining. Besides Vincent’s play style would be different. Similar to how they did with Yuffie for Remake.


As to the whole various worlds. It doesn’t even matter to me at this point. There will be a happy ending after defeating Sephiroth before it’s all said & done. Wouldn’t be surprised if they even go back in time on another world just to have a “Perfect” ending for Jessie.

I’m just at a loss on how they will condense everything down to finish up with one more installment.. As much as I’m enjoying Rebirth it’s all over the place. Looking forward to seeing how they handle finishing the guessing game with Reunion or whatever the 3rd games called.

I feel like the Weapon monsters will have more to do in part 3 thab in the original. We may get some kaiju style fights with unique mechanics for defeating them. They might even create a world of ruin kind of situation.

I suspect Sephiroth will succeed in avoiding his fate. He defeats the heroes this time, but Zack comes in for the clutch and defeats him.

Realistic guess: It'll be the original game story again, with random segments of fanfiction multiverse every now and then (like Zack sections) but those wont really matter. Just like how they don't matter in Rebirth except for the very end.

But at the end is where they'll throw everything "new" at the wall to hope that something sticks. My guess is that by the end of all the nonsense, it'll still have the same original ending result, but with a brief scene of an alternate Zack and Aerith being happy together.

Thats it. Those expecting a completely different ending or "changing fate" were just being theory baited the whole time (and clearly its working, even with the clear backtracks in Rebirth. So much for "defying fate together" huh?).

And those who wanted the original story, untouched by pointless multiverses already know better after Remake.

The meta stuffs were simply there to add tension, mystery, and suspense (also a very effective ragebait for the puny kids). The fact that we've had so many discussions on whether aerith was gon live or not (when ppl shouldv known the outcome) is a testament of how effective this whole meta stuff is

The main change in the ending that i believe will happen is aerith & zack will remove jenovah completely from th3 lifestream (or timelines or whatev theory you follow), preventing the geostigma altogether (hence "happier" ending).

tbh its better to wait til we have FF7 rebirth in steam before discussing the plot

Yeah, it'll definitely still happen.

I just see the new plot that was meant to be theory bait aging extremely poorly once its all done.

Remake is already aging poorly compared to where that actually went in Rebirth. I dont see it getting better at the end.

I still have to play the Rebirth, so will only speak about what I think will happen with some characters.

Cloud: After the Honey Bee scene cloud discovered his real identity and decide to change gender. Since he use female cloths and don't carry that big sword anymore in the new game, previous games need to be update to reflect the new "design choice".

Barret: Falls in love with Cloud after his transition. Previous games need to also be updated to reflect the new choice.

Since by the time the game releases being a slim and pretty woman in video games is a crime they need to censor previous appearances of Tifa and Aerith (in special blue dress and beach scenes).

In the patch, released around the same time as the new game, the notes will be:

FINAL FANTASY VII Re-born has received a version upgrade.

Update contents:
- fixes to several bugs.
