there's a gay npc in FF7 Rebirth

i thought i wouldn't see non, but here we are with Sweet Baby inc and square enix, they manage to squeeze in this thing...

my motivation to play this game just went downhill

Original FF7 didn’t have a romanticized, in-your-face gay NPC.

The bros in the honey inn are slapstick and any perceived romances like Rude & Reno are head canon.

However, you could literally go on a date with Barret if you wanted to. Cloud was a crossdresser. The game is just being fun with it, not political. Just live with it.

got some extra coding to do just to add this? smh

should use their effort to optimize more, like....not include this gay npc so less characters in town = higher fps

I'm gay, and you know what I think about that. That's a perfectly acceptable reaction. I dislike seeing lesbians and I dislike seeing women feeling up men. The repulsion is completely understandable to me, and since straight men are the majority I think it is perfectly acceptable and prudential for companies to cater to that majority. Doesn't mean there is "no" room for a gay scene, but where appropriate. For example the scene in the original FF 7 was fine. It was off screen, and honestly left a lot to the imagination, and confusion honestly depending on your age.

Some people just pay greater attention than others. I am among that number. I talk with every NPC listen to every side conversation. It is one of the few compliments I have for Rebirth generally is they do a good job with the details in their side-NPCs. The ones you don't need to listen to.

Well here is the thing, the developers aren't trying to appeal to straight men who are repulsed by gay people. They are trying to appeal to open-minded people who can accept that not everyone is like them. That is by far the largest group of people to appeal to.
