While I am still sad, that S-E takes exclusive deals as much as they can (see how FFVII Integrade launched, two exclusive deals with S-E (one for the base and once for Intergrade), one with Epic Games Store) and not release those high profile games day one on PS5 and PC I am waiting. Good thing is that there a lot of wonderful games to tide the time and backlogs to clear.
The only thing that is always ugh is that you need to have the whole dance routine of trying to avoid spoilers or not care about them and just enjoy the ride...
Here is the entire list of PS5 Exclusives currently:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_5-only_games
A PS5 is a great PS4 enhancement as you get a bunch of free upgrades, or cheap upgrades that bring old games up to 60 FPS and 1440p resolution.
God of War 2018 had a free 60 FPS patch that plays beautifully. Just did a run of that myself and loved it.
If you have to buy something to get free upgrades, it isn't exactly free is it.
If someone has a decent PC with even a previous gen processor, for the price of a PS5 you could upgrade your GPU and that would still run better than the PS5. The PS4 had WAY more exclusives than the PS5 has now at similar points of its life cycle.
PS1 Life Cycle: 1994–2006 (12 years)
PS2 Life Cycle: 2000–2013 (13 years)
PS3 Life Cycle: 2006–2017 (11 years)
PS4 Life Cycle: 2013-2022 (9 years) - Sony ended reporting sales figures.
PS5 Release: 2020
With us going into the forth year and more than likely based on the descending trends on life cycles...it is probably safe to speculate that the PS5 is getting closer to its half way point. With so little games on the system that you cant already find on Gamepass, Steam, Epic, etc. It just doesn't seem worth it for OP to buy a PS5 for two games.
You also are not considering the lack of mod support on console. Sure maybe most people don't play with mods...but a lot of people enjoy mods.
The exclusive pre-order summons for FFVIIR(:I) had been also made available on Steam, so it stands to reason, that we will likely get them, too :)
Yeah, and because you have to wait another full year to get the game on Steam they will package all the DLC locked summons in the package to just get the game sold 2 years later.
The 120FPS is funny, they have to wait till November JUST to upgrade from 30FPS to 60FPS.. KEKW
The only thing we can go by right now is the minimum date of May 29th, 2024.
I suspect a summer release on Steam.
Meh. Beats buying another $600 device. You win some, you lose some.
I'll say this again since you clearly didn't understand the first time.
If you already own certain PS4 games, you can download the PS5 version FOR FREE! Jedi Fallen Order, Metro Exodus, Resident Evil 7, OR download 60 FPS patches, again, for free! Imagine the simple concept of "for free."
You seem to be forgetting that the PS5 was released at the worst possible time - during the height of Covid 19, you know, that infection that has killed millions of people. That was a thing, and it has affected the game's industry in more ways than just exclusives for consoles. Games are also becoming much more expensive and taking longer to produce, which adds years to AAA releases when a developer doesn't have a very clear vision on what the project is supposed to be.
You're also not considering the idea of "system sellers." You know, those games that entice people to buy a system for. Bloodborne? Many people, including myself, bought a PS4 to specifically play THAT game. It also helped that the console came with The Last of Us Remastered for free too.
Modding? Sure, mods are great. I mod plenty of my PC games, but not everyone cares to do that. Some folks just want to boot up the game and enjoy it as it is; purists you might call them, and a console is good for that.
Based on news reports, they're going to focus on Part 3 with a fully realized Vincent instead of slowing production down with another intermission style DLC. It's the best decision if true.
So the wait for a pc release could be shorter this time round.
