Why does square enix treats us PC players as second class citizens?
FF7 Rebirth releasing in a few days and to no one's surprise its again a PS5 exclusive for 1 year. Why does square enix always remains in bed in sony for every game they release? I bet microsoft will give them more money for releasing the game on PC and xbox on day 1 but instead they always take sony's money. At this point I am convinced that the higher ups at square enix are cracks in their heads.

Do us a big favor and drop them a couple tens (or hundreds) of millions of dollars for a PC exclusive deal the way Sony did.

Because Microsoft offers chump change. Did you know they offered a mere 5 million for Baldur's Gate 3, a game that went on to sell over 20m units?

The entire reason Square Enix split from Microsoft for the past several years is because they refused to put enough money on the table to support an Xbox port so it would be financially feasible as, just based off sales on that platform alone due to the very low JRPG fan base, it wouldn't be realistic to port unless Microsoft paid them enough to offset the invested effort. This happened with Final Fantasy XVI and the same happened for FFXIV, a game growing so explosively on the other two platforms there was no reason to bring it to an irrelevant minor platform for JRPGs. Now they're finally bringing it to Xbox but even Microsoft doesn't feel confident and will kill it basically because it requires both a subscription for FFXIV + a subscription for Game Pass (that is right, you must pay for both to play it on Xbox).

As for also paying for it to come to PC? I doubt Microsoft even paid for that. This was likely just naturally done to try and recoup another install base as well as extra sales from repurchases of the enhanced experience (both on a technical level and for the enhanced Integrade).

The reality sucks, but JRPGs just aren't really a thing at all on Xbox for the most part. Sony paid for priority, clearly paying more than enough, quite unlike Microsoft who can't even work a good deal (see above comments) and further lacks the relevant install base to even be really a financial success.

In fact, Xbox has a rather significant history of destroying relationships over this past generation such as the Spider-Man incident, Square Enix, and several others which basically made them go exclusive on Sony both because of problems caused by Xbox as well as Sony's offer making it even more desirable.

You're looking into it too deeply.
Japanese company will side with Japanese company. It's really just as deep as that.

they'd rather wh0re their fllagship games around to the highest bidder than naturally grow their fanbase. it will bite them in the ass when rebirth underperforms on pc again, while atlus, capcom, and sega are flourishing on pc

Their fanbase is largely japanese and western weebs, which all have Playstations. They don't need it to perform well on pc.

Good.
We don't want Nomura's garbage on PC, it's fine where it belongs.

This game has nothing to do with the original Final fantasy 7 as Nomura the retarded made it a trashy kid story like that cancer of KH.

1 YEAR.
Why did that come from?
It is only 3 months.

You must not have played KH if you think Remake or Rebirth is ANYTHING like KH. Just saying.

That is a matter of perspective. I consider those exclusivity periods beta tests. I almost never play games on day 1 anyway. Sony paid for only 3 months this time. But I wouldnt mind even if its more than 1 year if it means getting all DLC bundled.

It actually is a MASSIVE surprise to everyone because you got your facts wrong by 9 months
They’re saying one year as that’s about how long it was last time. I think 3 months is highly unlikely. FF16 had a similar disclaimer, but it will also be about a year before it gets its PC release.

Grow their fanbase? Bro, Final Fantasy already had a huge fanbase in the late 90's with FF7, 8, and 9, not to mention Square's other projects like Parasite Eve, Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, etc...

Most of us that grew up with these games in the 90's are STILL playing them today.

To be fair, they aren't as dominant as they used to be. Western RPGs have made a lot of ground in video games, as well as other genres incorporating RPG systems in their games. FF/SE isn't the one-stop-shop it used to be for RPGs in video games.

In all fairness, this game is going to sell leaps and bounds more on PS than Xbox/PC. Because of that, that cost to MS would have been far more to make up for that lost revenue that Square knew MS would never pay. Square have the numbers for their PC sales vs PS sales for the last game and know whats up- they've done the math.

True but after those 3 months it all becomes on SE to port it and it becomes completely unrelated to Sony same applies for that awful EGS deals they keep doing.

FFXV took some time to port to PC, so did FF13 and those had no deals.
