Square Enix is the worst

Yep, I know. The title is so appealing.
But I will get straight to the point.

I'm 40 years old and an old Square fan. Not a blind fanboy, but I was a big fan of it for a long time.

I was devoted enough to buy FFVII Remake for PS4 before its release. So, FFVII was the gold of my youth.
I normally never buy games before their release, just two games in my entire life - FFVII Remake and The Witcher 3.

Let's get to the point. First, they made a normal game to remake what, in my opinion, was one of the best. Then, they released a DLC with Yuffie that I couldn't buy on my old PS4. And I don't care about PS5.

So, I waited to buy it for PC. But every sale was totally disappointing. Right now, the game is more expensive in my country than:

- RE4, Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Baldur's Gate 3, any PS exclusive, and almost every Xbox exclusive (except Diablo 4 and Starfield)...

Not only does this game persist with high prices and low discounts over time, but every single Square game is the same. Except for games that utterly fail in the first week, like Forspoken and The DioField Chronicle.

But, with all this Christmas feeling, I did what I thought might be stupid. I bought this game to record it and to experience it with better graphics and Yuffie's DLC.

I bought the key from Green Man Gaming, a reseller where I had more than 15 keys.
And then what? The key didn't work. It says the game can't be purchased in my region. AMAZING. I found on Discord that everyone who bought this game key, from a lot of countries, had the same problem.

Yes, I know. I have to contact support there and wait. I did it. Right?
But I can't just sit here and stay quiet as if this company wasn't at least complicit.

If you are a fan of this company, I have only one thing to say: you haven't been a fan of it long enough to change from a fan to hating it.

They always complain about the games that never sell enough. I guess it never will. And hope so.

Weird...with discount now, this game is cheaper than all those games you listed for my country. Too bad for you I guess. Yeah, unfortunately you can't buy the Yuffie dlc for ps4, as it is ps5 exclusive, but you can get a free upgrade on ps5 if you already own Remake on ps4. Not a bad deal if you are a console main gamer which you seem not to be, since more future games will be for new gen consoles. People who owns ps ultimately faces transition. But that's why I prefer to play games on PC, without the need to worry about purchasing upgrades of consoles. The only downsides is the waiting.

Yeah..one would argue how it could be unfair with the game not having a ps4 dlc, but then again, its not like you will be spending extra if you do upgrade to a ps5. The dlc was meant to cater to console players first, so if you aren't a console main, I advice you don't ever buy a new console again.

I never trusted any key sellers, so I purchase it directly from steam, its best and reliable way.

The problem is FFVII remake on steam is custing in my country higher than in dollars.
On steam was BRL 175, green man gaming was BRL 135 (not too cheap too)

Other games:

Elden Ring: 137
Hogwarts: 120
RE4: 120
Star wars Jedi Survivor: 140
Most of Sony: 100 or less
The last of us part 1: 140
Baldurs Gate 3: 179 (almost the same price than FFVII Remake)

I never got any problem with GMG. But I think that was my last buy from they and from square.

I have been quite critical of Square and their PC ports I can't comment on pricing since i'm in the U.S. but their porting is some of the worst I have seen on PC while trails of cold steel series is the best port job I have seen in a JRPG before

I'm sorry your Green Man Gaming key failed. Years ago I used to buy there. But now it gives me the same prices as Steam or even higher, for my location.

That the only issue here is a reading comprehension issue, it always says on GmG's website or any other website that the key's they sell are only for certain regions and will only work in them regions, This, was a you issue not Squares or Steams, You..

Act like the 40 Yr old you are and accept responsibility for your own mistakes.

If you're going to purchase a key from a key selling website like Green Man or CD Keys, you NEED to make sure it says "valid in X region" before buying, otherwise it's purely your own fault for it not working.

I'm done with the series and SE for the pettiest of reasons, so I get you OP.

For me it's the console priority. I'd love to play the next disc, but I literally bought a PS4 just to play the remake and I'm not buying a PS37 to play disc 2. If they released it at the same time (or a week apart if Sony has SE by the balls) then I'd buy it, but I'm not throwing more money at a "next gen" console just to play the game 1-2 years early on the lowest, ugliest settings at sometimes 60fps.

Square sucks, Sony sucks, Microsoft sucks the vast majority of the time, and they all suck for perpetuating the garbage exclusivity deals devs/publishers and console manufacturers have been making over the years. I don't want to be a part of it anymore.

That's the thing though, if consumers hate the practice enough, speaking with their wallets is the way to get the message through.

yea and even when it did come to PC the stutters on high end Hardware is crazy like I have a

Ryzen 5 7600
DDR5 5600
6800 xt
1TB NVME SSD teampgroup mp44l

and I get quite a bit of stuttering here and their

Is green man an official distributor of square enix keys? If yes, then file a complaint. If theyre not an official distributor/partner, then you know the rest.

I honestly hope that all that stuff will be worthwhile for you OP. Tho, as long as you dont expect a 1:1 remake, you should be fine.

Green man gaming is an official safe site to use, OP is just dumb because they plaster just below the basket and cart whether the game would work in his region, OP is a 40 yr old with a reading comprehension blaming someone else for his own idiocy.

You know, GMG or any third party key seller provides the information about compatible region.

I checked it again just now and it still does.

The fact that you can't activate it because of unsupported region is purely your fault, not Square Enix.
