You also want to make sure most if not all of your Materia is maxed.
Most strategies rely on bursting him for 90% of his HP in phase one.
Just run in circles from him spamming dodge. He has 3 unblockable moves. each of them can be dodged in specific direction (from him, to the side or towards him) to put him into pressured state. I remember Stab needs to be dodged towards him (Tifa will jump over Weiss), dont remember other two. Pressuring him with correct dodges is the only realistic way to stagger him in phase 1. He will transition to phase 2 after 1st stagger (or if you wait too long)
In phase 2 he becomes immune to physical damage unless staggered but becomes much less agressive and mostly stands still. This is where Aerith's double cast aura becomes a must (her barriers are also very usefull. Ice is the best element to build stagger so just spam it while standing in aura.
Each time you stagger him be ready to boost damage multipler with Tifa (her unique skill as well as true strike). Then take advantage of starshower boosting her next attack. Use starshower and then instantly query limit break.
