Robot hand puzzle - Aerith gets stuck

I have replayed this horrible section of the game so many times now. You have to move the robot arms so Aerith can lower a ladder down and every time I reach the end the screen pans away and Aerith gets stuck in a run cycle and keeps running around in circles. The game doesn't progress because Aerith just keeps running into a wall.

Has anyone experienced this and found a way around it? This puzzle section is mind numbingly bad and it would be typical for it to keep freezing on the end of such a repetitive puzzle. Some people have said you have to play it on windowed mode for it to progress but it hasn't worked.

im playing full screen no problems so that is not the issue

which set of arms are you having issues with ?

the one where's there two hands, and you have to stack the crates in order for Aerith to pass and lower the ladder. When I complete the puzzle Aerith runs to the ladder but she just gets trapped running around in circles and the game doesn't progress.

i'd suggest saving the game beforehand, then close the game and verify the integrity of the game cache in steam then try again.

Then verify your game files in EGS. They do have such a feature as well.

so, should you not be asking these questions on epic forums ? seeing as this issue might be related to their client and how it interacts with things meaning someone there might actually know what your problem is

This issue is happening to me on steam as well, so that's not the problem.
I have tried changing settings, holding/pressing keys, windowed mode, but doesn't work.
Any other ideas?

Surprised this is still happening and hasn't been patched :(

some people suggested starting the chapter from the beginning again. Other suggested running the game and the highest resolution. None of these worked for me
but on the widest res I can see Aerith looping around on the spot like a spastic.
