Didn't seem to take that long to get interesting. Doesn't make me think of the Witcher.
This is just stupid.
I am about 10-15 hours in, demo seemed to be representative of what it is about. At least for as far in as I am now. Demo is a little tighter paced.
He's in the running for my favorite iteration of Cid in all FF.
PS5 is easy to find now I’ve been seeing them in stores. Is it worth it? For even PS4 games, yes everything runs better and a lot of your PS5 games will have PS5 free upgrades.
Is FF16 worth a PS5 buy? Yeah it’s pretty good and PS5 is going to have more exclusives coming.
FF16 loads extremely fast on the PS5. Some games however are made very well with the PS5 in mind. What’s weird is Square Enix is known for its bad PC ports. FFX on Steam has the green screen bug during cutscenes for years now and my ultra rig can run Cyberpunk on Ultra but FF7 remake and FF Strangers of Final Fantasy tries to auto frame rate adjust.
Thanks for the input. I think I'll pick one up soon-ish. I don't play a lot of PS exclusive games and the only one I had some concerns about was GOW: Ragnarok, but it runs fine on my PS4, so I never really had a reason to buy one.
With FF16 and Rebirth on the horizon, I'm debating on making the purchase. Ultimately, I'll end up buying them again if/when they land on Steam--it's really a matter of whether or not I want to wait, which I probably don't if it's gonna take more than a few months.
I get the new generation wants pure action and I have no issue with that as long as I can turn on turn based mod where everyone lines up and its turn based
It's fine if you don't like the new direction Squeenix is going with their games, but I, and others actually enjoy them.
It wouldn't make sense to boycott something that we like. And Squeenix most likely made these changes because they believed it would garner more sales or were the natural next stage for the series.
We saw the same thing when Yakuza turned into a turn-based series. A lot of people hated the change. but I enjoyed it.
Now its the everyone gets a trophy era with easy non challenging game play just mindless press R1 to attack. You also nailed it wish theyd call it another name and make Final Fantasy the way its ment to be
I get it for profit but thats why imma boycott the new game. Funny how it went from
Bad graphics to good game playFF7 to decent graphics and good game play FFX to insane graphics and terrible gameplay ff7 remake and above
FFVII for instance literally took control of the player's menu screen and moved materia around to show them how the system worked. Barret explicitly tells Cloud how to fight the scorpion boss and deal with his gimmick. The games tells you to press Select and it will put a literal hand over the player character and markers on exits and intractable objects.
And who gives the young these trophies?
Once again, FF usually is just Attack/Fight spam.
FF was always at least good graphics when compared to its contemporaries. If not an/the industry leader.
FFVII Remake has terrible gameplay? Is this just because you prefer turn based combat?
Yes exactly I think this action style game play is terrible if its not turn based. I get its for selling copies but I feel they could of done that by making another title and not using the Final Fantasy name known for turn based combat. Which puts older players like myself in a bind of do I boycott or buy.
If it was a new name and I saw game play I wouldnt buy it , basically devil may cry. While not a bad game its not a real jrpg, which is what im looking for in Final Fantasy.
Theres real no way to have your voice be heard neither which maybe hopefulyl modders will save the day or god knows maybe theyl read and see some people are unhappy with it and add the option cus I supported them on 15 and 7 remake but nah ill keep my cash for another game this time
I agree with you for sure that Square's games used to be way more challenging in terms of letting you figure out the game on your own and explore and finding secrets, etc.
There are still some game devs that are into that. SE is appealing to a more mass casual audience now, and they see their old games purely as business opportunities, not as the legacies that made them that deserve respect. FF7's "Remake" is the best illustration of that imaginable. It is what it is. SE is increasingly operating as part of Sony's flagship--they recently bundled the PS5 with FF16 and released a super awkward commercial with influencers and athletes reading from a teleprompter unconvincingly saying how much they enjoy playing FF16--target audience is crystal clear.
The conclusion I've come to is that there will never be another FF game as we know it. FF7 and FF10 were the peak of the series, and we won't have another as great as those. That's OK. Nothing good of this nature like a game or a movie or a tv show or a novel series can last forever and keep pumping out hit after hit. Everything has its time. I think JRPGs in general had their heyday and it's basically gone now, except for the Persona series maybe, but that one has its problems. Check out Eiyuden Chronicles if you were a Suikoden fan--it's an interesting fan-backed spiritual successor to the classic.
Now it is? As we just established, it was like that in the 90's.
How old are you? And why does age have any bearing on this?
You say you aren't buying this, so what's the problem? You believe you know what you aren't getting into.
Reviews and, as you're doing, speaking with your wallet. Buy turn based games, don't buy Action based games.
Damn can I pin this as my awsner to my mods thread. Jeus nah well im glad I got to vent a little just upset me when I saw the game play and was like agin and then they have no forum and never see anyone talking about it. But you saying youv said that im sure if I search id see many people saying the same things
Yeah man hahahah its just hard accepting change and the fact the old FF wont come back. Doubt modders will help. Nah but thanks for responding and sounding normal im convinced its 100% conpany bots promoting the game defending new changes or the new brain dead causals
Just damn sad to see this trend continue and just wish more people would bring it to the devlopers attention which im sure people do
Just the corporate machine will keep going where it wants nah ur right man maybe the way I gotta look at it is rest peace final fantasy here lies FFX the last line of its kind.
Nah thank god I came here I was on the fence about buying 16 but now im 100% conviced im not buying it so thanks for that
