Voice acting so bad

Like I'm sorry, but I played the starting section, and was going to make a post on how badly it was butchered. It's like back flip off train, plant bomb, reactor goes boom boom, jump down tunnel.

Felt like I was in a episode of the young and the restless or something this versions however.

But then I switched from English to Japanese voices and played it again, and actually really enjoyed it.

English voice actors are really bad. Sorry. Like way to flamboyant, feel like I should be 12 years old playing this game. Japanese voice actors sound pretty bad ass. Not perfect but 8/10 I'd say.

Need to redo. Not appropriate for $100 game.

Aerith's voice actor is S tier. I usually play RPGs in Japanese, but the English VAs are way better in Remake, Japanese has a cringe voice for Cloud

Yea sorry, OP, but i absolutely disagree. The english VA's are top shelf.

The voices are spot on, I'm actually amazed how accurate they depicted the characters from the OG FF7. Everything from Barrett getting tired from climbing the stairs and always overreacting, to Aerith being quirky thinking she's qualified to be in Soldier, or how she convinced Cloud to wear a dress. Cloud being an A-hole and cocky and not a emo like in Advent Children. Tifa being compassionate and tough when she needs to be, yet knows how to break down and cry when emotional. Red XIII wise but at the same time snubs Barrett, like when Barrett made fun of him crying for grandpa in the OG. Yuffie being hyperactive and the center of attention, with her weird asian tendencies and customs. Roche being over the top with his pompadour hairdo. Johnny being your bro type follower, Don Corneo being a sleazeball that wouldn't hesitate to dance on your grave. The list goes on... THEY NAILED IT!

I think that some of them are good, while others are just garbage. I am comparing them to the voice characters from the older stuff like AC and Dirge etc. I personally miss the OG voice actors, but will admit some of the new guys do a good job.

Some of the smaller parts have weak voice acting, but what actually bothers me more is the animation part of the acting. They seem to be doing stage acting... BIG stage acting. The kind you use to make sure the folks sitting 50 yards away can still understand what's going on!

LOTS of games do that, though.

I think that's the biggest issue with Barrett, because his English voice often doesn't quite match the animation they use.

Play it in its original language with subtitles. Japanese a very tonal language in nature, and English dubs -- no matter how well done -- simply cannot faithfully reproduce the intended tone or vibe of the original voice actors.

Even a great dub of a Japanese title will ALWAYS differ in mood and tone from the creators' original intent.

That's what final fantasy IS. Sometimes it doesn't even take itself too seriously.
Did you even play the original FF7?
Hell, in an earlier FF title, a girl literally strips and dances in front of you.
I'm not making that up.
