Kind of hoping I manage to get a PS5 by next winter, though. Really been wanting to play Demon's Souls again, but by the time I get it, the online community will be dead. Again.
There is a clear trend with these PS5 exclusives.
There is not enough PS5s around to justify exclusivity deals like in case of earlier PSes, so 1 year tops and it'll land on PC, like all the other exclusives did over last couple of years.
I'm not buying that. A good PC is stronger than a PS5 in every single way.
Besides that, the main reason is exclusivity deal that Sony and SE made back in January regarding many titles including the upcoming FF16.
The only game that I remember escaping this is Stranger of Paradise, which got multi platform release.
So, I'm pretty sure StormEye is right about it being a matter of being exclusive to PS5 and not on PS4. It's far far FAR from uncommon for developers to say something is exclusively on one console but then release on PC either down the road or even the same day. (if Sony is paying for the advertisement, they can just put the PS5 logo at the end even if it IS coming out on other platforms. You'll notice the trailer doesn't say "Only on PS5", but just "PS5" We'll 100% see it on PC down the road.
As for good PC is stronger than a PS5, I HAVE heard of companies not wanting to release on PC because the "average" PC won't be able to run it and it turns into a headache for the company. Likely less so now that most complaints get directed to Steam or Epic, but since people weren't allowed to return opened PC games to retailers, it was a hassle for the companies to deal with tons of people buying games they couldn't run.
Examples: Only 19% of people using steam have a CPU with 3.3 or higher. Most are under 2.6GHZ.
GPU is too varied to list, but only about 5-10% of Steam users have a graphics card that's better than a 1060 (which is the most popular at 6.82%). There is a fair bit of people using integrated graphics or laptop cards.
RAM: 50% of users only have 16GB of RAM, which is standard, but most people with good rigs are goign to have 32 or more. 24% of users only have 8GB while 32GB only accounts for 12%. 6% of users only have 4GB, and all other amounts have negligible numbers.
So, if a company ever says that they're not bothering to release on PC because they don't feel like most PCs can run their game, there is actually some merit to that. (though, they could make it happen if they would just add features that let users lower the settings. Just comes down to if they feel that's worth the money and effort)
As a fun side note: Only 36.7% of Steam users use English. Second most popular is Simplified Chinese at 24%, then Russian at 10%, Spanish at just under 6%.
If they meant that it's not going to be on the PS4 I can understand but if they try to use that same argument as to why it won't come to PC I'm not buying it.
It's just that no one developed for that capability until the consoles got them.
