Flawless Widescreen - Map Glitch
So I saw talk of using Flawless Widescreen to get this working with ultrawide.

Everything seems to work except for a few things. Fade to black transitions in cutscenes are only 16:9 and the edges instantly cut to something else, but as I've seen this in other games with utlrawide fixes, I'm just going to assume that's just something you can't change. Not really a big deal to me.

What is a bit of an annoyance though is my full screen map seems to have some kind of weird overlay on top that moves whenever I pan the map. It's like I'm looking at the map through a thick fence and it's making it difficult to see passages without constantly zooming and panning back and forth.

Mini-map is fine however.

I am aware it's a WIP fix, but wanted to know if this is part of that WIP or something I shouldn't be getting. All settings are at default. My in-game and native resolution is 3440x1440, running at 120 FPS (native 144) if that even matters.

When I googled it up, it says it is a known issue, they suggest unchecking "hud fix" when you need to use the map (you can do that while playing) and check it again when done.

But that fix did not work for me...

Ah good, so it's known then. At first this wasn't a big deal to me either, but now the maps are getting layered.

I also notice the overlay's shape is not consistent. It's a pattern for sure, (like a tiled wallpaper pattern) but after a while I can go back to the map and the shape has changed. (See just above my current position in the pic below.)

Sometimes smaller and less intrusive, sometimes bigger and more. Like just right now, it's a simple small triangle.

I'd almost say it might be grabbing something from whatever the mini-map is showing currently for some reason.

Yea, it'd be great if this map issue were fixed. I'm not having any problems with anything else so far.

I had the same issue and I just unchecked "map fix" in Flawless Widescreen and everything worked fine.

I play on 2560x1440

That's what I tried first. Doesn't work for me at 3440x1440. Can't remember what it made it look like but I think it was even worse.

2560x1440 is the same as 1920x1080, it is not ultra widescreen. You do not need any fix.

You have 1080p ultrawide, Google the flawless widescreen fix.

Not many times I'm going to feel compelled to go out of my way to specifically thank somebody on here, but I have to leave a comment thanking you. The github fix worked. Was using flawless widescreen and it appears I don't have to now with that solution. Glad I waited to play the Remake until Rebirth launched, cuz looks like that map glitch was something people had to live through for awhile. lol

And that I did for the whole game.

Oh well, I'm playing Rebirth now, and unfortunately Square is still oblivious to ultrawide, (unlike SEGA) and I'm glad to say that a similar mod on Github exists. The best part, is the map glitch does not exist in that one....so I wonder if it's the same mod just redone for Remake?
