Save transferring
I was thinking about picking up the Steam version of the remake and was wondering.

Are we able to continue from where we left off from the Epic version or Are we forced to start from the beginning

Rename EOS file to Steam. Renaming it worked for me. It might work for you. If not, then back up the EOS folder. Then delete the original and start a new game. Save it, then move the contents from the EOS folder to the new Steam folder it created. It should be located in %USERPROFILE% \ Documents \My Games\FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE\.

I think it's worth noting that achievements don't auto-pop for prior progress when you carry saves over from Epic... No big deal if you're not worried about them, but I ended up starting the game over. :FFVchocobo:

game probably writes saves the same way between Epic and Steam, but don't expect them to hand-hold you through using them from one to the other. Also, ffs, why are you going to buy it again? Are you retarded?

Try starting a game THEN writing over the save with the Epic version.

Because it is a PC game with distinct saves. It isn't a one-exe game from the 90s with all assets, save data, settings, etc stored in a single file that wouldn't be very portable from one storefront to another.

I know I am VERY late to this discussion but I am following the same plan as OP and achievements matter to me. I've heard that I could use Steam Achievement Manager to unlock the achievements I've already unlocked. Just need to check which I already have and which not.

I just wonder how progressing achievements like for examle "Collect 3 Music Discs" would work when I transfer from Epic to Steam. Let's say I already have 2 discs and collect the third while playing on Steam, will the achievement unlock? Do you know this?
