TLDR: People don't like Dino getting a mop on his head and goes "not in a million years!" but accept SE making you killing the ghost boss of the OG plot, subsequently free them of future plot changes.


I've always find the "ghost" a jab at the original's fans putting it in such a literal way to insult the people who like the original and wouldn't want much changes.

Then I wandered upon a video about FF13 recently regarding its development history.

It's the then I realized that the whole FF7 remake will be the revenge of the FF13 development team, and now they've adapted everything into a position of their choosing, and already lured in most of its fanbase with its first part out of three, seemingly following the original besides a few tweaks...

I can almost certainly assure you they will invent some kingdom heart convoluted plot into the story to tell the original fans of the messages of the recently Hollywood.

Main Character wants to do something else. got pushed back by ghost, as if lecturing, and this happens a ton."OG fans are bad, they will hurt you to have it their way."

They make you kill the "purist" ghost boss so you will shut up about future changes.
"See you killed the ghosts, so you do want changes, here comes Kingdom Heart!! You shouldn't object because you already killed the ghost that doesn't want changes!"

The video did elaborate on it and I agree.

As an artist it's natural for them to not want to remake someone's else's game but their own. And they did, but 13 was such a dumpster fire it shuts them off of new opportunities. With 15 being a "meh" for most people SE break the casket and have the ff13 team to come back and remake ff7.

"Hey you had your tries now remake the game that's already proven great."

NO artist wants to live under the shadow of former success, but order are order so they did.

With "Lightning is my waifu and everyone should like her" as the lead, they added ghost which obviously represent the people opposing changes against the original.

Then they make you kill it and goes "see you want changes, so here we goooooooo~~~~"

I can't help but find this mindset disingenuous, and subsequently fear for the remaining chapter.

You have a development team that was denied their success and forced to do someone else's and this don't usually end well, while well-implemented, they've already import the whole battle system of ff13 into ff7.

I wonder what's next?

My entire time playing it I've felt like the devs were just trying to make me angry. They've butchered the story and then made the game into an on-rails cinematic experience. I feel like my childhood memory is tarnished. Aerith is annoying and ugly, Jessie is the worst type of woman (great personality and good looking but a complete, ego-centered, tease), and Tifa is somehow completely undesirable after the first 20 minutes with her. The annoying boss mechanics inserted for "difficulty" feel punitive as well. The entire experience seems to have been crafted with veiled hatred for the community. I think you're absolutely right. There was no love in the crafting of this remake.

If you don't like it don't play it. Everybodies not you..

idk forced is not the right word here. They brought us a semi old, semi fresh story in huge part entirely because of the success. Advent child, other games.
People love ff7, and it is a great story. So far I've seen some of the new, and old, and I have no complaints yet. 5+ hours now in so not much to speak of yet.

If you're not an OG fan I completely understand why you would enjoy the game.

FF7 is the first computer game I've played, so these minute element tends to stack up frustration for me, no one enjoys being insulted upon.

"look these ghost are the OG fans and they hurt you if you try to deviate the path. What? Originally cloud should join the sector 5 reactor mission? lets make a meeting scene to put him out of it but then have ghost(OG fans) push Jessie off the stairs to make him join."

They can choose not to do that and just have cloud join to begin with, but nooooooooo gotta jab the OG fans....

In a more dramatic sense, they're telling me that OG ff7 character have no free will and only current one can achieve their own destiny, and I find that spiteful.

1-3. There are thousands of stories for Batman/etc I hardly see how a Batman or Spiderman having 6+ films in additions to games and cartoons is a bad thing. Just like you don't need to read every comic book you can say the same thing about movies and tv.

4. This makes no sense. No one made something just for you anyway.


5. As a guy who is straight. This is still a weird comment to me. Gay material? I guess make out/same sex scenes or characters who act "gay". Look I don't look forward to opposite sex scenes either unless its porn. But different folks, different strokes.


No one is shoving it in your face any more than a woman and a man. In fact I'd even say less if they were.
