Changing Gear Shifter
How many would like to have a real gear shifter in the car?
How many would like to have manual and automatic transmission?

R - Reverse, P - park, D - Drive,
1 - 1st Gear, 2 - 2nd Gear, 3 - 3rd Gear, 4 - 4th Gear , 5 - 5th Gear

+/- - Refers to tell you if you need to shift up or down at certain areas including hills and uneven surfaces.

Sounds overly complicated to have a manual shifter

The car is vaguely modelled on a Country Squire. I'm going to say with absolute confidence and no research whatsoever that there are precisely zero manual transmission Country Squires from factory.

What is point of that? It's will make driving more tedious.

yes, the Eighth generation (1979–1991) looks the closest and only came with an automatic

While I wish the driving aspect was a little less 'arcady' with the requirement for proper speed management and significantly less auto braking when releasing W, I feel that manual shifting would be overly tedious for the short stop-start game play loop that this game has.
Would be nice as an option (like steering wheel support) but I don't think either are really suited to the game play.

I also dislike the selector lever sitting in the center console,
that's where the manual handbrake belongs.

It's a US American station wagon & therefore the selector lever should be where the wiper lever is in the game.

With atleast | P | R | N | D | indicated in the dashboard like in US style cars of the time.

This way you wouldn't have to look away from the road & the driver would be much less likely to forget puting the car in | P | before exiting the vehicle.

Aww I am a bit disappointed there is no manual transmission even if you would have to swap it out yourself. Most of the fun driving cars for me both in real life and in games is changing the gears and being fully in control of the car yourself.

I don't need a manual gearshift in the game, but an actual simulation of an automatic would be appreciated, especially in offroad sections.

And I'm gonna say absolutely 0 had been to a paranormal exclusion zone. It's fantasy, doesn't matter.

If its supposed to be a Country Squire, wouldn't the car have a column shifter and not an on the floor shifter

I typically look at the shifter and levers and click them instead of using keyboard shortcuts. Don't know why, just got into that habit. They probably went with this design to space them out a bit. It'd be too cluttered otherwise.

I actually just started playing the game about 3 minutes ago and came to this post because the car was at 4000 RPM and only going 40 mph... and I was wondering how the hell to shift because that would drive me insane in my vehicle lol

Man I wish that was an option. It would make driving much more fun as I could use my wheel, pedal, and shifter

It would be interesting to look at manual gear shifting, but it would become more challenging for players.
