Vargas Auto-Vac

What exactly is the Vargas Auto-Vac for? I have seen footage of players vacuuming up resources from the floor with it, but the resources stored are shortly lost.

I think the mats are stored in the smaller tube next to it that spits out the transfer loot box. You can open it like you would a container.

All the mats get stored into the tube next to it as Tenacious D says. I put a crude door and 5 plastic and 5 scrap on floor and ran it. The door and all the mats were in the tube next to it. It does NOT delete anything unless you have some kind of bug.

What I do as general rule, I scrap all my items in the deconstructor, then do a quick transfer all from the vacuum into my inventory rather than pick everything up individually. I believe this is the intent.

Addendum: The Storage Tube does have pictograms of a clock and skull on it though. Could be that your stuff gets deleted when going on a drive.

Had 2 lockers full of stuff and thought I found infinite storage in the Auto Vac. Loaded it up, sorted it all manually. Hundreds of the regular stuff,. Nope, one drive and everything is gone... Lesson learned, it will delete everything after a drive.

Once you unlock Pneumatic storage you won't have any issues. The vac is nice for when things get stuck where I can't get them while deconstructing stuff.
