Game became laggy after an Nvidia driver update 552.12
Once I exit the garage, the game starts lagging. Like it slows down and speeds back up again every second or so, making the game unplayable for me. This started happening right after I installed the latest NVidia driver update. Anyone else having the same issue?

I FOUND THE FIX: Turning off DLSS fixed the issue. I tried the different DLSS settings, seems all of them cause the issue for me at least. Turning the whole thing off fixed everything. I hope if someone is having the same issue, they don't abandon their run and lose half their stuff for troubleshooting like I did lol.

Unfortunately didn't work for me. The game ran great before the latest drives so I don't know what happened. I might mess around with some more settings and if all else fails I might just roll back the driver update.

I'm going to ask once again, do you all remember when the latest GPU drivers FIXED our games instead of screwing them up? (This is NOT unique to Pacific Drive)

AMD was overriding BIOS settings for power consumption and giving constant GREEN screens of death (something I never even heard of before). I was sure AMD was just terrible but I was stuck with my new PC and stayed mad about it. A year later, however, and the drivers are superb and now Nvidia users are complaining about driver updates screwing everything over. if they're even that aware to realize it's the drivers and not simply blaming every game in existence. So it goes.

I used to laugh when my dad used to say "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" Never imagined that would apply to computer today more than mechanical stuff..

It is not uncommon for driver updates to make certain aspects worse due to the crazy levels of code needed for modern graphics.

True, I forget which game it was, but one of mine didn't work for almost a year until a windows update fixed it.

Shame this stuff didn't update like hydrogen fuel cells and outer space tech, then we could go 30+ years without our stuff being screwed up.

Hi folks. Last year I found a guide for another unreal engine 4/5 game that can be used for any ue4/5 game, or so they said. You can test it at pacific drive because it is also unreal engine. You can test it, I have the feeling that the game runs a bit better

enter in the search or enter in explorer in the address line at the top
%localappdata%
Go to PenDriverPro<Saved<Config<WindowsNoEditor<Engine.ini

put this at the bottom but press the space bar once before it

[/script/engine.renderersettings]
niagara.CreateShadersOnLoad=1
r.CreateShadersOnLoad=1
r.Shaders.Optimize=1

[TextureStreaming]
r.Shaders.Optimize=1
r.Shaders.FastMath=1
r.UseShaderCaching=1
r.UseShaderPredraw=1
r.UseAsyncShaderPrecompilation=1

(You can try using first only the renderersettings line)

go to pacific drive steam, properties and write in start commandline -xgeshadercompile

This is the standard but i has a extended version of this for more options

Try it

Try a clean install of your GPU's driver.

Also, download a temperature monitor to make sure your computer isn't cooking itself.

Third, try a different display cable / power cable for your monitor / make sure the ones you already have are inserted properly.

I noticed every so often when I load my save game, graphic glitches start happening. I have to close out the game and restart it. Just started happening recently. (I also bought the game relatively recently so that may or may not have any bearing.) I'm wondering though, if that isn't because of said update.

Personally I think they like it that way. They get to pop their head into your living room or bedroom every 5 minutes and screw with you.
