Can you beat this game without grinding for upgrades?
I watched some gameplay videos and there is a lot to upgrade. People collect a lot of junk.

I am curious can you just rush the missions on the stock car? Without upgrading too much?

You can probably beat the game without too much issues with steel panels and doors and offroad tires, if you wanted. You might have to replace some parts out in the wild more often, but you get plenty of materials to do so.

I hate grinding but I like the idea of travelling

There is some story missions that require you to have explored the zones between you and the destination to reach it. So it is less grinding for the sake of grinding and more, "since I'm here, I'm taking those stability anchors home with me."

Same goes with the resources, especially if you heavily loot the story mission zones, which are all stable till you open the gateway back to the garage.

You can definitely beat the game without a good chunk of the rarer upgrades. I never needed anything more than armored panels, I almost entirely ignored the sewing machine and the player upgrades, and by the time I reached the final zone I spent more time looking for cosmetics.

I would highly recommend getting insulated headlights, a complete set of armor panels, all the ways to charge your battery (solar, rain, etc...), the radar, offroad tires, and a fully upgraded trunk. The rest is purely whether or not you want to be a completionist. (Protip: you dont have to choose which battery charger you want to bring. You can fit them in your trunk, and swap them out in the field.)

As much as I like this game, I don't even see the point of grinding for Olympic parts. You wouldn't buy a 200 dollar pen if you know you will lose it, or use it just as quickly as a 25 cent Bic pen. You can, but it's not a good use of your time or resources.

let me ask you, and please be straight. How long do said Olympian parts last? is it the same bs you get with the leads and armored? barely 2 trips and you get the fragile bs?

Fragile mostly happens because of acid attacks as far as I observed. I had panels last 10 trips before I found acid spewing anomalies than it was bye bye for my previous armored panels. I hardly get the same condition in other types of zones.

Thank you, thats good to know. Seeing as Ive never suffered ANY explosive attacks, and I have 2 more areas to explore before doing main final quest, maybe i'll throw the acidic resistant ones on, since you have to cross that to get to Deep Zone anything.

You will want at least one engine upgrade. The carborated engine is sluggish compared even to the first upgrade. But without any upgrades you will have a hard time dealing with alot of the stuff the game will throw at you. Also, there is the outfitting station, which requires an upgrade to access

I beat the game with insulated / lead panels, offroad tires and a couple of energy rechargers.
I even upgraded the battery and fuel tanks but it was really not needed.

Now post game im going to try to farm for all the upgrades I missed.

You can even the game on the starting engine.

You could even beat the game with no panels at all. The game is pretty easy.
