I just unlocked the AMP engine but I don't have the materials for it yet so I am using the one after the carbureted engine for now which is the turbolight engine.

turbolight appears to be the best one all around.

amp can be fine if you dont mind using all your slots for regen battery power.

LIM chipped is definitely not worth due to it being a gas guzzler.

I prefer the LIM chipped tbh. I tried the AMP and didn't like it. I felt like it takes too much to keep charged, especially if you plan on using abilities. You go fast enough with the LIM chipped engine to charge the batteries with 2 mini turbines on the car. Not sure if that's possible with the Turbolight I didn't test it.

The benefit of the AMP engine is you can "refuel" by stocking up on Jumper Cables and Plasma Shockers. No more messing with fuel cans and hunting down cars.

I mainly use Jumper Cables, as the mats for them are cheap and plentiful. So I'm "refueling" by compulsively looting like I do anyway.

But it has a hefty upfront investment of mid-tier mats to get going.

I prefer LIM chipped. It is a gas guzzler but its pretty much the difference between the first motor and turbolight. I do rock roof and backseat fuel storage as well as 4 jugs emergency jugs in the back trunk storage. I manage to go on long missions and make it back without dipping into my emergency jugs (but it comes close). I also never have to look for fuel either. LIM chipped motor along with nitrous lets you scale any mountain which is a huge time saver for those long zigzag routes.
