This game is too stressful and too confusing - what to do when your car flips?
Part of the "charm" of the game is explaining everything through in-game lore, and honestly, I never have time to read anything. So what am I supposed to do when I'm rushing to the exit already engulfed in the instability and my car flips? Something called emergency teleport or whatever. It only works outside the car? Fine. I'm too close? Fine, step back. Something's blocked? This is where I quit and probably restart a new save. A few of these and I'll uninstall the game, stumbling around in a dark forest with weird sounds and without a flashlight - even though there are clearly working lamps on a car - is forced atmosphere. I want to love this game, but I hate it.

Sounds are not that bad considering that nothing will jump out of the shadows and try to bite your face off. It's only ambience, but no threat.

If you don't have flashlight use flares, they're easy to replenish in ARDA outposts.

The game throws flares at you at every oppotunity, use them for light and distractions.

As for the storm, the yellow storm is rough, but not too crazy, you have time in it. You can even deal with the red storm for a little while.

Bro, when the red storm collapses on you, that’s when the real fun begins.

You can change game play options to suit your tastes, I have keep everything upon death, fail or quit, haven't had to quit yet, but Ive died and failed quite a few times, also have it seit to repair the car upon successful run completion. I got frustrated at first as well, but stuck with it, glad i did. You can also set game to pause while in the log or all menus. I have this off, if I know a storm is coming, I save the log reading for back at the garage, great way to pass time and make it light so your not burning through battery recharge kits.

I'm hoping theres a later stage where you can survive longer in these, AND have access to special loot for doing so, I'll either find out or someone will tell me hey or nay.

go into the settings and disable some of the stuff. this game went from ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful to an interesting mystery/survival game after i flipped a few of the QoL settings. i should have known from the dude's involvement in don't starve (the game i unironically hate more than any other game, actual worst game i ever played) that an unaltered loop would be an unfun experience and i was right. however the story is good and there are some fun stalker vibes once you remove the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and the need to rush.

For OP: since this is a single-player game there's no real shame in cheating. The game itself even has a bunch of accessibility settings up to and including god mode. I also find the base game anxiety inducing but after plugging in mods that gave unlimited tool durability the game became considerably more enjoyable for me.

If your car flips, you can press and hold T to teleport upright. Heck, you can just run around the world and teleport your car whenever you want, so if you lose sight of it, hold T. There is also a compass underneath your health that will point to your car. As for locked doors, hold C to scan, and it will usually tell you what too you need for the situation.

The sounds are mostly ambient, and the scariest thing is probably the tourists (Those crash-test dummies that mimic weeping angels). They're a random handful, sometimes tossing you helpful items or running into you to blow you up or electrocute you. For the most part though, for as much as the zone taketh away, the zone giveth back.

If you're that afraid of dying however, you can always change your game settings under "gameplay" - everything from drops on death to even turning death off. There's a wide range of customization that allows you to play the way you want.

If there's a feature that isn't in game, check the modding community, I'm sure someone has modded it in.

Not really. If you're too far awayfrom your car it won't work. AFAIK holding T key isn't necessary, just press and wait for car to respawn
