Children and pets are tied to the Bucket List and as such they are worth the one Happiness (Heart). I agree, they should be worth more. ATM, I rarely stray from the Single/Investment path as money means more at the end unless you can grab a Crown. That being said, the money path allows for me to buy Happiness enough to contend for Crowns even though I'm not focusing on them.

pets/children give you hearts and stuff, also it's cute to see that little scene.

like what's the point of having real kids you know. I guess in game logic it doesn't matter, but i guess you could say they make other players grow up. Also with pets it's not much different. I was actually talking with my mother and she thought it was really funny how ppl. could think this in real life, but in a game it's different.
