While the developers put a lot of effort into graphic design, the length of the tracks are way too short compared to the original. Additionally, I find this to be not as good as its predecessor because it omits the mini-games that made it a bit more interactive and not just your typical "board game". Despite that, I recommend buying the Deluxe version when it is at a steep discount since the DLC's at least lets you customize your game(s) and gives you a reason to play for countless hours and not just for achievement hunting!

Whether you're playing solo, passing the controller around in local Pass & Play, or jumping into online multiplayer with friends, the game offers a smooth and accessible experience that makes it easy to recommend for casual game nights. The multiplayer functionality is one of its strongest points—online matches with friends work reliably, matchmaking is straightforward, and connection stability is generally solid. In most sessions, lag is minimal and disruptions are rare, which is impressive for a game so dependent on real-time interaction between players. Performance-wise, the game is also reasonably well optimised, running smoothly aside from a few minor quirks that don’t heavily impact the overall experience.

Where *The Game of Life 2* begins to struggle, however, is in its online competitive integrity. The biggest issue by far is the apparent prevalence of hackers and cheaters in public online multiplayer matches. It becomes noticeably suspicious when certain players repeatedly land on the exact numbers they need to secure advantages, avoid penalties, or hit perfect outcomes on chance-based spins with unrealistic consistency. The manipulation is often obvious enough that it undermines the fairness of the game entirely, turning what should be a lighthearted competition into a frustrating and unbalanced experience. For a game built around randomness and luck, compromised spin mechanics damage the very foundation of gameplay. The lack of robust anti-cheat protections makes this problem feel even worse, and the game urgently needs stronger detection systems and preventative safeguards to preserve fair play.

Adding to this frustration are occasional sync inconsistencies during matches. At times, the spin wheel will visibly land on one number for a player, while the game registers a completely different number as the actual result. This discrepancy also affects special red and black spins, creating confusion among players because different participants may see different outcomes on their screens. While these sync issues are relatively minor compared to the cheating problem, they still chip away at trust in the game’s systems—especially in multiplayer matches where accuracy and shared visibility are important.

Another major omission is the complete lack of an in-game reporting and enforcement system for cheating behaviour. If players suspect someone is hacking, there is currently no meaningful way to report them, flag suspicious behaviour, or trigger any moderation review. Without a reporting tool or ban system, hackers can continue ruining matches unchecked, which only encourages more abuse over time. Implementing a proper reporting feature, combined with account penalties or bans for confirmed offenders, would go a long way toward improving the health and longevity of online multiplayer.

Finally, one of the smaller but surprisingly irritating issues appears at the end of each match: the puzzle piece reward animations. While rewarding progression is a nice concept, these animations quickly become tedious because they are unskippable. If you’ve unlocked several puzzle pieces in one game, you can end up stuck clicking through animation after animation for far too long before being able to queue into another match. It disrupts pacing and makes it harder to immediately jump into the next game, especially when playing multiple rounds with friends. A simple skip option—or even a “collect all instantly” button—would greatly improve post-game flow.

Overall, *The Game of Life 2* remains a fun, social, and enjoyable board game adaptation with strong multiplayer foundations and a polished casual gameplay loop. But while the core experience is good, persistent cheating, weak anti-cheat protections, missing reporting tools, sync inconsistencies, and unnecessarily slow reward screens prevent it from reaching its full potential. With better moderation systems and a few quality-of-life fixes, it could become one of the best digital board game experiences available. As it stands, it’s a great game occasionally held back by frustrating avoidable flaws.
