Highest level cat, all 3 golden cookie upgrades so you can get that started right away (if not, your 1st golden cookie could be 10+ min and the one after that too since you can only buy the upgrade after clicking on the first one), and then something else high level thats expensive. I used to prefer the highest lvl cursor upgrade before they changed it, but now its best to just do your highest idleverse probably.

3 golden cookie upgrades, highest kitten, and the 20% upgrade from Christmas.

The last, because that way I can switch seasons in a different way and avoid a season switch while I finish the others without losing that 20%. for maybe a day. Oh, or the golden egg that improves Golden Cookies.

It changes over time - when ascending rapidly it tends to be things that allow you get back up and running quickly - golden cookie upgrades, most expensive cat, highest idleverse upgrade, the highest 10% cookies for having x number of each building, some of the key seasonal upgrades or fortune cookie upgrades you won't necessarily get a chance to unlock during shorter runs.

Once things slow down the eventually most of these become irrelevant as you have time to unlock them all, and even the most expensive cat gets unlocked a couple of minutes in, so by this point speeding up the first hour or so doesn't make much impact when you take days to get enough prestige to make ascending worthwhile, so it mostly tends to be a rotation of the most expensive stuff you unlocked in the previous ascension (5% or 10% cookies, or occasionally one of the later building upgrades).

Omelette will save you a lot of time no matter how short or long your prestige is.
One golden cookie upgrade is enough as far as I'm concerned. Just save and reload after you clicked your first golden cookie and bought the other upgrades.

For the last three it depends on how long your prestiges are.
I tend to focus on things that would take days to unlock.

Best kitten, best idleverse, 2nd best kitten, then maybe idleverses or the really expensive 10% cookies. Basically, you try to save some cookies by putting in the really expensive stuff so you don't have to buy it again. At some point it becomes irrelevant, though, as your problem will be lumps and not CpS

I use the 2 best kittens, whatever the most expensive 10% cookie is and then the highest tier idleverse unlock and then whatever happens to be the most expensive after that.

Everything else comes fast and easy just by playing, you're basically just trying to save some cookies by having the more expensive buffs already started.

Just update to the next most expensive of each for every ascension, until you're maxed.

I'd do the 5 most expensive kittens to gain faster cookies and prestige levels.

That would only be good in the very early game at most (if then), in the late game you get all kittens in the first 5-10 seconds of each run anyway, so this would provide no noticeable benefit at all, and even by the mid game at best 1-2 kittens take any amount of time to save up for.

Most of those kittens take seconds to regain, pointless waste.

On point.
The only kitten which would be useful on a perma slot, is the "Fortune #103"-one.
