crossbows are so bad.
why would you ever use a crossbow instead of a bow? 9 times out of 10 you can't hit the targets you want to hit. is there some kind of repeating crossbow thats useable later or something? otherwise im about to never use one again lol

From what little I've played, the regular bow shoots at an arc, which makes hitting uphill enemies difficult at times. Crossbows are always a straight shot and works on those enemies.

Crossbows have better armor penetration but lower damage than arrows. Early game you won't notice the difference much, but once enemies start getting decent defense from stats and decent armor you're going to notice that a crossbow user with good skill in crossbows will do more damage to an armored enemy than an equivalent archer with a bow on their normal attack.

Plus crossbow finishers are arguably a lot better than bow finishers.

Oh man wait til you unlock the Fusils. You would probably hate them then if you don't like the trajectory of the crossbows.
Only reason to use crossbow is they can shot enemies at higher place where bow cannot.
This game usually put your team at lower area, so crossbow can be handy sometimes.

I haven't gotten there yet but do Fusils still have limited range in this one because the director doesn't know how bullets work or is it like the original and they have infinite range?

if you get high enough you can shoot across the entire map with a long bow.

I haven't reached that point yet since I have been busy collecting dragons in Pharompa in chapter 2 instead of progressing the story. I do wish they haven't significantly nerfed it or anything because man just being able to shoot down someone off the walls of Qadriga fortress as long as you have a clear line of sight was one of the best feelings in the world.

Tbh main appeal of crossbows in psp version were the finishers. Death wail could 1 shot basically anything, and the first one was a frag grenade.
Ex Nihilo X Nov 13, 2022 @ 8:41pm
Jeunan trained up with a crossbow and Brimstone Hail was god tier in the PSP version.

Yeah, I wonder if the crossbow finishers were nerfed in this version. They were hilariously powerful in the psp version.
