Why is this game called Tactics Ogre in the first place?

Ogres? I feel as though the title doesn't really capture the vibes of this masterpiece. Am I missing something?

It was the next iteration of a game called Ogre Battle: The March of The Black Queen. Same treatment was given to another game made by the same guys Final Fantasy Tactics.

It's a sequel to Ogre Battle but changed genres to a Tactical RPG. Ogres serve as the great evil that was part of the world's mythology. Also because the creator loves Queen.

Saw the name of the game and was instantly hyped,

Then i saw the game footage and was immediately disappointed.

The designer was a big Queen fan. There are dozens of references to their work. The hawkmen are in the game because of their connection to the movie Flash Gordon (and they were originally called Vultan after the head of them in that movie).

The subtitle, Let Us Cling Together is a Queen song.
