I mistakenly thought this was an Ogre Battle remake.
In 1993 there was just nothing like Ogre Battle for SNES. But then I did some googling. It appears that this is a remake of it's successor. So maybe even better?

play the original, this isn't worth the money, It's a sad 4th generation port with an absurd price tag. The voice acting is nice, and they made the magic look cool, but thats it. the cut out the soul and level capped it.

Man, you are really determined to sink this title, aren't you?

And I hope you don't mean the soul by the grind.

It's an honest opinion. If my opinion can sink this title, it wasn't that good to begin with.

It's not like ogre battle, but same world. Different battle style, same unit types. It's a good game, and worth playing, but the original was better in my opinion. This version doesn't play the same.

Hopefully we get March of the Black Queen, but this is a PSP port. Porting the PS1 or SNES version of March of the Black Queen would probably be more work.

They had to rebuild the game for PSP for a reason i suppose. I imagine they'd have to do the same for Black Queen as well. They've done the rom port thing before, it didn't work out.

Ogre battle was awesome but i won't compare it to this, i can't call it better, they are different.

Symphony of War is a very comparable game to Ogre Battle. Same battle system, class upgrades, so on. If a new OB is what you're looking for, that might be it.

Not that much of an effort probably, they are remaking other games after all.

What system is Symphony of War for? Does Syphony of war have the multiple paths and alignment and hidden items where you can figure out where stuff might be etc? Like there is lots of great stuff on OB beyond the battle and class systems.

True. Its a similar battle system, it has hidden items. I don't think there's multiple endings, or alignment. You do level up the classes. You form squads, move them around the map, they sort of fight on their own but you pick strong/weak/leader/etc target. It's not as good as Ogre Battle, but it's pretty close... closer than this game is anyway.
Raelic Nov 11, 2022 @ 7:34pm
It's not even close to the same battle system. It's a nod to the game for sure, but it's no real time strategy.
Lacdanan Nov 11, 2022 @ 7:41pm
There was no real time strategy in ogre battle other than moving squads on the map. Other than that, the fight is the same. The party fights on its own, you just pick the target preference.

A remaster of a PSP remake (and I mean an actual remake) of a SNES game for better or worse.
