But a bit more complex in some ways, and a bit simpler in others.
it isn't BAD per se but the gameplay is extremely dated, old fashioned and quite frankly not worth the money they are asking for.
Hope that helps!
TLDR: FFT is the superior game (obviously) but this is not BAD , it's just not very good. FFT fixed everything bad about T.O and that's why it was so wonderfully received, lots of smiles all around and gameplay galore.
T.O is a struggle and for a very niche audience, so be prepared to refund. You probably won't finish the first battle in the trial period so i'd suggest watching some videos online to see if you think you'll tolerate the tedious gameplay, and poor dialogue.
this is very different from FFT but still uses the same walking in place / turn based battlesystem and storytelling system.
the two games are really different though.
this is a youtube video that contains a lot of whats in this game compared to a previous version, but it will show you just how wildly different from FFT that it is. you can make the decision if you think you'll like it from there.
I disagree. If you are talking about the original FFT of PS1 and the original TO on NES then yeah FFT is superior than the original TO. But Both FFT and TO had remakes on PSP. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Both of them I played for more than 100 hours. The Tactics Ogre PSP version was way superior to FFT PSP except for the game sprites. They added a lot of additional contents like "world chariot" where you can teleport back in time to complete other routes and recruit all characters. TO PSP had a bigger party limit compared to FFT. The storyline was deeper and there is post-game play where you can recruit the character you can't recruit from the original version. So expect that this Tactics Ogre Reborn is an upgrade from the PSP version which a lot of people considered to be the best SRPG of all time.
Also Tactics Ogre and FFT are both headed up by Yasumi Matsuno so you know... it's pretty solid game is all I'm saying. FFT is definitely the more "streamlined" of the two but the PSP remake addressed all the serious issues from the original Super Famicon/Playstation One versions and this seems to be a ported version of the PSP version. It is a very enjoyable game IMO.
