What big numbers are you referring to?

In the PSP version, your characters start with around 95-100 hp-ish and deal around 30-40 damage on each hit
Now it's 400 hp-ish already from the beginning, and you deal around 80 damage
Not a big deal, but ruins the sense of progression if you start from big numbers already from the start.

Imma have to disagree bud I need to build to the 9999 hit ASAP

Diablo 3 is the worst offender of this that I can think of. 200,000 defense, damage in the billions. The scope is out nuts it's impossible to really imagine and takes me out of it.

Luckily this isn't nearly as bad!

Big numbers attract. I like things big too but eh.... depends on the thing.

Agreed. I really dislike the modern trend of using really large numbers as a cheap way to make players "feel" powerful.

While I'm sure the game is great, there was no reason to change this.

Disgaea laughs at those pathetic small numbers.

But thats how tactic should be. The psp kinda bad. Enemy died in 1~2 hit. Even boss died from cringe naked canopus.
They raise the HP to make the game balanced. Unless you want the old boss died in 1 shot. well...

It looks like they do mean something if the HP quadrupled and the damage was right around double. Might change the balance a bit.

Those are tiny numbers by Disgaea's standard

Disgaea 6 you mean? I'm ok if the numbers get progressively bigger but everything big should always start with small things in RPGs.

Only time I hated games with small numbers is when everything scaled off of %'s, like doing 10 damage and you add 20% damage to that... Big woop!

The way you word it as if you can balance TO abysimal damage formula...
TO psp was chunk of unbalance level design ever. Mob enemy died on 1~2 hit, boss feel like just those random mob.
There is mod named one vision, the modder raising stat overall each character, removing redundant stat boost like strenghten I II II,I to balance the game he opted to raise unit HP over all. So you started with 80 damage, and enemy have like 300 hp at start. Not to make boss like some random generic.
And Reborn just doing the same as that one.
