About the difficulty...
Hello all,

Ready to jump into the game when it is released, but before this, i would like to ask if someone please has some experience with the game:

The game is hard , i get it, but since it is an RPG with continuous progression and not a rogulelike where you just restart a run, is it so hard that you might end in a situation without proper equipment and levels on your characters, that a fight is unbeatable (and unskippable) meaning that you must reload a god forsaken old save ?

I do not mind losing characters that i love, but what happens when i'm outleveled and outgunned with no possible chance of overcoming ?

Are there any random encounters that i could grind for XP, is the world open for exploration ?

Or if many things go wrong without noticing , is it game end and needs a restart the story from the beginning ?

Thank in advance!

Can always level with training. In training mode when your unit dead they will retreat automatically not starting the 3 count perma dead like in story/dungeon battle. Once you get to certain stage you can set AI to auto training.
-Enemy level capped union level so you wont outleveled as long as you hit cap.
-When you finish the game, you can world back to certain anchor point, like to take another route, but there is level scaling. Unlike psp the level scaling is applied to you. For example on 1st battle the level cap is 3, your level will be reduced to 3 on that battle (can be turned off once you cleared the battle *when re-play that scenario again*)
-As long as you play full party you can clear the battle easily.
-The money you get from battle is just right to outfit your team. *mid game gear can work in late game, dont need to overthink it*

I dont know how much has changed since the PSP version, but IMO it was not hard, it was more like tedious. Especially tedious was leveling up a new class.

Can i explore the world freely, or the battles are one after the other, with no in-between visiting cities, doing quests, time ?

Really liked the battle system from what i have seen, and i would hate it to be blocked from the lack of items, or levels.

Every JRPG player going "Not hard just tedious" never really brings up a case where a game is hard but not tedious, since by definition you can opt to grind the difficulty away in any game who has leveling as a core gameplay feature.

Its battle & battle type. Point to point type map, and your movement restricted by story.
There is some hidden quest that not directly said, so you need to check warren report each time its updated. Once you get to certain chapter the world map can be explored freely. *like chapter 4 when all map already unlocked.*
You wont be lack of anything, the game give the thing you need to clear the scenario.
On chapter 2-3, one dungeon will be unlocked, will give just enough each run.

There's only 1 or 2 battles that could be considered anywhere near as much of a "beginner's trap" as the Wiegraf fight in FF Tactics. At the end of chapter 2, there's a fight at Almorika castle you have to do 1v1 regardless of route. In the Law route, you have a couple of extra helpers during the fight, but Chaos route it's a straight up 1v1 against a character that's kinda built for 1v1. There's only 1 other battle that's 1v1 (Chapter 3 chaos route), but it gives you the option to do 1v1 or army vs army. My advice if you're not confident would be to always drop a backup save before going into any castle or fort, since those tend to have a few back-to-back battles where you can't go out and restock on allies/items in between.

Just always remember to stock item. The 1v1 duel should not be that hard, since you can change class anytime. Heal I buffed alot now its heal 100, heal II 200.

I had Tactics Ogre for the PS1. I remember it being pretty challenging but not really unfairly so. You could hold mock battles with your own guys to level them up a bit too IIRC.

I will say this: Once you get a couple cocatrice units on your team things get WAY easier. They can petrify enemies. They're actually pretty OP now that I think about it.

Not sure if this counts but SNES 7th Saga might fall under this. You can grind all you want but your adversaries (and bosses too I believe) are always a few levels higher than you. In fact grinding might actually make the game harder in some spots because of this.

Ugh 7th Saga. It blows my mind how the international version was even more broken than the original. Your allies were supposed to have pretty good stats as they leveled, but the bonus stats in the western release only applied to the levels obtained before they joined your party. There were also a bunch of overflow glitches where like ... spell accuracy would drop to single digits if your magic stat was too high.

Haha, that's the one!

I only ever won it ONCE, and honestly I don't think I'd ever play it again. I chose the blue knight character and... I think it was the elf healer girl for my other party member. That was one hard-ass game, a good one for bragging rights I suppose but that's about it.

You can infinitely grind if you wish. In chapter 1 you can get exp this way, but you are capped at a certain level that increases as you progress the story.

However, if the PSP and PSX versions are any indications. Fortresses will not let you leave, and you are trapped in them. But you will be very well warned when y ou enter a fortress. The game even warns you to keep an extra save handy.

However, I dunno how important levelling is. Someone, Coffeepotato cleared the PSP game with level 1 characters.
