Port/Remake?

Is this a port or remake? If so, can we get a REAL NEW Tactics Ogre next time? I still have my PS1 version so why would i want this one?

The game is neither a port nor a remake. It is closer to a remaster... of a remake.

Compared to the PS1 version the differences are absolutely huge and it is damn near a totally different game with the same story.

However if you've played the PSP version you get nothing "new" by playing this. There's several mechanical changes and new voice acting which is nice, but nothing you haven't already experienced. Changes, not additions, are the name of Reborn.

Complete remake.
The story and graphics are largely the same, but mechanically this is a completely different beast.
If you haven't played the PSP version, there's all the content added to that one in this as well.

Yea, I played the PSP and DS versions. Was deeply saddened by the laziness to pawn off nostalgia. If they want to get a stupid tax then they should just lobby for one instead.

Every release of the game. SNES/psx(originals), psp and now pc are all different enough from each other to be IMO different games.

While the story is always the same the core mechanic overhauls and redesigns in each release makes for a completely new experience.

Reborn is my new fave by a narrow margin. Is it perfect? No. None of the versions are. Each has its own pros and cons that will appeal to different people. It is tied with FFT as my all time fave game and I can happily say it has flaws.

You played something that does not exist (DS version)? If you mean GBA, that was a completely different game. Maybe you shouldn't be saying anything about a 'stupid tax'.

tbf, they were slightly different but...(not being salty here) it's a Squaresoft game....I think we deserve and actual rewrite at this price point. It's like reskinning a MW or COD and pretending its a new game while games like ARMA come out.

I can't even imagine what it must feel like to not be able to make that kind of differentiation. Why watch Return of the King when you've already seen Fellowship of the Ring? It's the same movie, after all :^)
