In this version, all it's really good for is upgrading the Mend Leaf you find on the map and upgrading them up into actually usable healing items.
Considering that you can't buy the MP leaves, though, I would always upgrade those to the 100MP seeds. Going any higher than that is possibly not worth it (the RT cost jumps a fair bit from the 100MP seed to the % ones), but I would definitely never use the basic mana leaf.
Furthermore: Upgrading the Mend leaf for what? To save a few GOTS, which you will get with one training battle, which you have to do anyways, if you want to have a few options in case of classes and elements. On second thought i don't have the math done but if you sell the mend leafs, maybe you haven't to do the traininbg for GOTS battles anyways.
I'm also not sure if you can buy Fruits of the Adept or you have to craft them. If you can't buy them they are worth crafting some of as they restore 10% HP and more importantly MP. Useful at the start of a battle when you don't get an early Meditate to go off on a magic user.
