Optional Content?
One thing I can't do in RPG's is a lack of optional content - so does this game have a lot of it? Super bosses, dungeons, etc.

Yes. There is the main story which has three main paths; once you complete one, you can elect to go back in time and do another path. In addition, you have the following optional content:

Phorampa Wildwood
Pirate's Graveyard story and dungeon crawl
Elemental shrines
Palace of the Dead (100+ floors with bosses)
CODA 1, 2, 3, and 4
San Bronsa Ruins for story and extra class/equipment

This game has a ton of optional content, even a complete post game only content.

Tip: Always read The Warren Report after each battle, especially the Talk section, to open up optional content.

If you just look at the map and proceed to the next red destination without reading The Warren Report, you will miss out. In some cases, simply reading the item under Talk will create a new red destination on the map. Other times, you have to surmise from the Talk item and go back to a (non-red) location.

In terms of my hours played, about 67% or more so far has been devoted to optional content. There is a significant amount.

Plenty of extra dungeons, many super bosses (Dark Knights / Heavenly Generals / Overpowered Palace of the Dead units), and as noted above, you can go back in time to play through other story branches you didn't take, saving characters that may have met a tragic fate the first time around.

There's 3 main paths, each with their own cast of characters, a bunch of smaller sidequests to recruit optional characters, a 100 floor mega-dungeon, and an epilogue campaign.

There's so much endgame content that the game is honestly a 40-60 split between main plot and optional.

The game is positively drowning in optional content, though I will say that does come with a small asterisk of 95% of that optional content being in chapter 4 and later; you will not see much optional content in the first 3 chapters of a playthrough.
