When do I get to control the entire party?

Just started chapter 2 and did 2 battles, my damn sister is still on auto pilot doing what the AI says, do I ever get full control of the party or is there always a AI unit doing dumb Sh#t?

Guest characters always use their own AI, you have no control over them unless they join your party fully. I have to admit, guests can be really annoying, especailly when trying to recruit other characters, and stop guest characters from killing said enemy party members.

I wish you did have more control over guests, its the main downside I'm seeing in this otherwise good game.

You have an entire party. Sometimes in addition to that number you have guests. They do not take a slot or anything else from you, and are bonus assistance.

There's often no downside for letting your guests get destroyed either, so they make useful hp sponges / distractions if nothing else, if they're dumb enough to charge in like they love to do sometimes lol.

To the question, Catiua leaves after Chapter 2. After that, the only time you have guest characters is when they happen to be someone to rescue in a battle.

But is that every story battle after she leaves? Or rarely?

Rarely. The vast majority of your battles after she leaves, you'll have no guests.
