This, or Triangle Strategy?
Both games look pretty great, with TS having better visuals and TO a better soundtrack. I am hoping to play it on ultra wide (native or with mod). What do you guys think?

if im not wrong, TS was character class - locked, so you cant change their job like TO or FFT

That's true, there's no job system in TS, but every character is unique and useful.

More like the tutor. In the old Greek and Roman sense. The primary educator. TO is like the father of the SECOND generation of TRPGs, the first being things like Fire Emblem, Langrisser, and the 1000 others like them that never got translated.
TO is what took those games and put them on an isometric grid and did it WELL. They were the first to mix class customization (even only a tiny bit) along with team customization. First to do random encounters well. First to do a story that could be its own graphic novel (and became a manga) rather than "generic empire is evil" of early SNES and NES days RPGs. They weren't the first to do destructibles, but they were the first to make it more impactful, burning grass changes it to dirt, only way to get lots and lots of items.

So TO took what their progenitors gave them, and shaped it into something far superior. Like an educator. TO is the Harvard Department Chair of tactical RPGs.

It may seem counterintuitive, but having unique and specialized characters from the get-go is actually pretty attractive to me. I get decision paralysis when deciding builds, so I don't mind some hand-holding at all.

Get this instead. Tactic Ogre Let Us Cling Together which is the original for Super Nintendo and Play Station Portable, with PSP version being complete with a huge end game is a must for any tactic game enthusiast. I already pre-ordered it on Switch as I feel its a console experience. I just realized both game are being reported to PC so it's great PC players will experience these games. I actually emailed Square Enix and told them to make tactic ogre let us cling together on switch and it's an instant money maker. Got a reply. I know it seems try hard but I am glad it's almost here.

As I just recently completed Triangle Strategy on Hard and switching no Normal that game forces you to lose to actually level up and continue unless you play on Normal difficulty which felt like a good damage input/output. In Triangle Strategy if you loose you will retain all your items and experience and eventually catch up to the playing field. Again loosing is...good in that game and the game does require a much tighter strategy like others said but they have not tested it nor actually beat the game on Hard mode so if you play it just note it might not appreciate your time. Your party will die to a mage or get ganked.

In Tactic Ogre Let Us Cling Together or in this case HD reskin (which I actually hope there is a filter to not use, I am a bit of a purist) there is more or less even playing field. While most battle you're fighting uphill it's balanced enough where it appreciates your time and effort unlike Triangle Strategy only if you play on Hard Mode.

The biggest selling point for Tactic Ogre is, like Triangle Strategy Choices matter but they matter harder with who and especially which class your next special recruit will be and you have to fulfill not only choices but also in game, during combat, special actions to summon or turn units into other special units for further deep class recruitment. In Triangle Strategy there is none of this. Just a simple 3 tier path for class and weapon.

Tactic Ogre has 2 huge end game dungeons and they are huge and long and inside is even more surprises recruitment units and special only classes. It's that good because it's an older game. Games back then were Good Video Games. Tactic Ogre Let Us Cling Together/HD reskin is an example of a Good Video Game. Triangle Strategy is only a good video game.

Hope this helps you make a decision

Both. I got TS to scratch the itch. It's not as effective as I thought it would be! Because all I want is TO now!

What mania - SE did this to me! :)

Get both!

If you had to pick though for a first purchase, I would buy TO first so that you can have perspective on how the newer stuff feels. I played TO: Knight of Lodis and it really got me into the whole genre. :D Hope you enjoy whichever one you buy my friend. :)
