If you watch it again, in the second part, you'll see several waves of creatures attacking the base. In fact, the video concludes with the end of the colony due to the creatures' attack. So, it seems that scenario can't happen...
I don't understand (and regret, because I enjoy facing a threat while building my colony) why the feature clearly shown in the second video, i.e., the ability of creatures to launch a concerted attack against the colony, has been removed. I'm not seriously considering that this feature was never part of the game and that the video was scripted with something never present in the game, but the thought did cross my mind...
Why not cater to all players by offering it as an option? You already have a pacifist mode, as you mentioned, so why not provide the opposite as well?
There are 3 PvE settings, off, which means no enemies, passive, which means the enemies are there, but you need to clear them to get to resources and they won't attack you and active, which means once an in-game day enemies will spawn out of nearby ruins and attack your base.
Pick a setting that feels more balanced for you.
