Do you all play with infinite resources?
I keep restarting as I learn more about the game and decided to give infinite resources a go. It's much easier because you don't have to keep spreading the base out more and more to reach resources but I wonder if it's too easy - I do like a challenge. But I'm also concerned I'll finally understand everything and get a great base but get annoyed at the lack of ore. For those who have gotten to the "end" did you find it frustrating to have to go miles to get more ore?
Also while I have your attention and the forum is a bit dead quick question about Bugs. Do they get harder over time? Or is it in relation to your development? Or is it distance to your base? I'm finding more of the Mothra and dinosaur types and not sure what makes them get stronger. If it's "time" then I need to not dilly dally so much.

I was playing with infinite resources, and three weeks ago, I decided to try playing with finite ones again. In my opinion, it turns out to be very different gameplay, but both are fascinating! You should give it a try!

I very much enjoy NOT starting with infinite resources. In the late game, you can create infinite resources, and it's rather hugely rewarding in my opinion.

I like to set up mining/delivery routes with storage buildings as checkpoints. Add a checkpoint per however much distance, add a bot per checkpoint. It doesn't decrease your income rate by much as long as the resources are always in motion.

As far as bug difficulty, I do not know.

Infinite resources? Interesting. Maybe I'll compromise to "rich" for my next play.

Still very curious about the bugs because if it's "over time" then I really need to change the way I play. I've never had them invade my base or anything but I don't know if they will just show up one day after a certain amount of time. I have them set to the default setting.

aslong as you dont attack the bugs on default, they stay passive

I prefer to play on high richness over infinite while I have been figuring out the game. Compared to a lot of games resources are actually very abundant and close together. But there is a bit of a learning curve in understanding the rest of the game.
For a first play through that seems to be very reasonable

Am i the only one who wish there was something in between for when you play against bugs that attack you? more clearly: only for the starting area. As in the richness and such are very welcome at the start of the game, especially if difficult enemies, but later? you just have more researches you need to clear for more space + ability to make them infinite meaning the others really are just in your way = richness that affect only the starting area until you get to the point where you can expand without getting crushed by bugs

In a way a vein that is not infinite but will take hours and hours to empty, and because it's just one, of course you will need to go for non vein since you can only get so many from it.

No, you're not. 😊

I've actually been working on a mod to increase the yield of the large/rich (and to some extent, even the medium) resource nodes, but in trade also make them less common (but not at a 1:1 ratio). Still working on how to properly reduce their frequency, though, as some don't respond to the modifiers in the same ways as others.

I'm not sure how well I could do something for starting area only in the way you envision, though.

Are you a programer?

Eh, hobbyist at best. I've modded a few games that use lua as their scripting/modding language, so this one has been easy enough to pick up the basics on, though obviously each one is still different in other ways.
