How big is the Map?
given the name of this game it's hard to actually google things for it without every other game and cars and everything else showing up in the results

that being said does anyone have knowledge or where i can see how big this games map actually is?

They say infinite, I'd say anything Factorio-sized and up would put that in "not wrong" as a characterization, anything you can't reach in normal gameplay might as well be.

Just like factorio, infinite, you roll seed and then it expands endlessly.
See what I mean?

Factorio's map is 2000km on a side, somewhere between India and Australia in size (Australia's bigger)

I got out and about towards in one map, always going north (later on in the game)....I stopped at ~70,000 "map coord units" towards "map north" (I was expecting it'd stop at "65,536" units, reaching map borders - but NOPE!)....so, yeah... that's some MASSIVE, MASSIVE MAP possible...I just reckon, the save-game will be insane, if you plaster it all with buildings and stuff.

Infinite in theory.

In practice, the game might hit a hardware limit, like running out of RAM and crashing if you explore too much.

The map in Factorio isn't really infinite. Just practically infinite. There is an edge where it stops generating. I think performance considerations come into play looooong before you would ever get there under normal gameplay. Someone did a youtube video on it recently where they reached the edge.

I made a Grid Layer, no i am in a radius of 600 "distance" to my base, and things start to get really slow.... i guess, i am on the edge of what the engine can do. the grid buildings (5k) crushing the game.
My PC Ressources are not the problem, because the game dont take 100%.
So scouting the map seams possible, but not actual using it :D

So does it mean that there is only 1 map but without any borders?

No you can find a "seed" for map generation when starting a new game, so the map is always different. i think it enfolds and generates when you explore it.

I think that's indeed a PC hardware issue. in a multiplayer game (me and two buddies) we've expanded the base like 300-400 squares on the grid in every direction, and explored like 1000+ in every direction.
it doesn't seem to slow down on my end (I sometimes use a watch-timer on the server-ticks speed - I'm the host: Ryzen9 5900HX w. 64 GB DDR5 Ram, game is on a 2TB Samsung 990pro M.2 NVMe SSD installed)
I don't think it's an game engine issue. it's using UNREAL engine, which can do quite some heavy lifting - not sure which version though. Wouldn't be surprised, if it were version 5
