Does it have a specific range?
I wanted to have a battle squad with 1 as mobile power grid which receives the power and distributes it to the other bots
For a miner group you'll probably need 4.
It appears that multiple power transmitters are required for a single unit due to the limited supply per power transmitter.

I've tested this with a remote mining operation fetching blight crystals. I point 3 of the power fields at my commander with a small power field and capacitor equipped. The capacitor still charges, and the commander extends its power through the power field at the 5 twinbots it's coordinating.
I might be crazy. But I've never seen them go offline as long as my main facility isn't also offline.
And i know it's working because 7 twin miners are completely reliant on it and they are full of power.
The internal draw rate for most of the workers I've seen is 25 unless supplemented. I imagine if the power transmitter is shooting into a worker with a power field mounted, the bottleneck is that worker can only itself supply 25 power unless you mount a battery on it.
Maybe. I'm just guessing here because I'm not set up to test that right now.
I don't regret the money I've put into this. The game is a bit opaque, but there's depths to be had in behavior programming to optimize factory uptime.
I already have 60 hours in the game from the weekend, but I played at least 300 hours on both the alpha and beta releases over the last year-ish.
This is a game like Factorio, where you get out what you put in and the toolkit gives you free reign to set your own challenges.
