It has huge potential in being a cozy and charming game about restoring a planet. It looks great and the music is very relaxing.

And then the gameplay itself gets stale very quickly. All you do is running around in circles basically. Replanting the fields feels quickly like a chore because often you try desperately to reach a certain spot and then you feel forced to stop to do the planting, and after you've done that you forgot where you came from and where you wanted to go... Means you wander around lost again.
Unlocking new technology means you have to find the places again that you couldn't reach the first time. Nothing against backtracking in a game, but again, it feels like a chore. For me the game design choices are questionable sometimes.

And if that wasn't enough it feels just unpolished. Often I fell down somewhere and through the map - especially when I just found the path where I needed to go - BAM, back to the mothership you go! Try to find it again. Ugh!
The menus / UI feels weird and my PS4 controller doesn't get recognized by the game.

Sadly. but at the current state the game is in I can't really recommend Distant Bloom.

The game bugged and soft-locked me 7 hours in. I need to make food to clear 2 patches to progress to the next technology, but the chef bugged and clipped through the building and is now stuck.

Very cute little exploring game. It's not very long but that's not a bad thing, and it's nice to have a game like this that involves exactly zero combat. Overall it's just a cute little feel-good game.
