Please Help, Controls not working.

I'm playing on keyboard and mouse, I don't have any of the control options changed, and I'm nearing the end of Sam's Story. The controls just aren't responding. I can only press WASD, SHIFT, CONTROL, and ESC. I can melee, shoot and aim but sometimes that doesn't even work either. If i press C, it doesn't throw an item, it acts as though I am holding down C trying to select a throwable item. Every time I load a save, no matter which one my weapon isn't there so I have to open my bag, close my backpack, and then I have it, but after that I can't open the bag again. When I press Q, N, R, none of it is responsive. I reached a door and the prompt to press E to open it isn't even there. I don't know what to do and am really frustrated as I don't want to start the DLC all the way from the beginning when I just got to the end. If anyone has a solution, that would be very much appreciated.

(I tried exiting back to the main menu, then loading back up and that didn't work. I even closed and reloaded the game and that didn't work either).

Right-click the game in your steam library > properties > installed files > verify

I've had this problem too, for a long time. I went back to play now to see if I had fixed it, but still, same problem, at the same stage as the sand, please someone help us.

How can you 'connect' a game by usb?

I do not have this exact problem but I found that if you change the movement keybinds it basically breaks the interaction screens like the radio or the logbook or beds or whatever. Some keys do nothing at all, some seem to work sporadically. Conveniently the "stop doing this" key still works in all cases so I have not been softlocked, but still it sucks that I cannot drink from my canteen or open the logbook

By any chance, do you have a gamepad plugged in? If you, unplug it.

That was not the question, it can affect the game when there is a gamepad plugged in even if you don't use it.
