Controller sensitivity fix
So me and many others have found that the sensitivity in metro exodus is crappy. You move at a snails pace when moving the camera anywhere that isn't the four cardinal directions.

So I've been tweaking with steam's controller integration and found that if you set the right joystick to mouse input instead of stick, it'll fix the problem entirely.

Step 1. Open steam and find Metro Exodus (make sure to have your controller connected and turned on, dirty talk or something idk lol)

Step 2. Click the controller icon to the right of "Play" and then hit "Edit Layout"

Step 3. Make your way to joysticks on the left side of your screen and then find the "right joystick behaviour" and click the gear next to it.

Step 4. Look a little ways down from the top (it'll be one of the first settings there) called "Output Joystick" and set it to "Relative Mouse"

And you're all done, this took me literally took me a year to find out as I just dealt with it my entire time playing. No need to thank me or anything, I just thought it'd be nice for y'all to know.

Have fun Spartans!

I really appreciate your help , as i´m also struggeling with the slow controller looking speed. However setting the right stick output to "relative mouse" introduces a lot of problems for some reason: First off, you loose the option to set the aiming speed, as the mouse has no designated aiming speed, making aiming too sensitive with the right controller stick, This can be countered to a certain degree by setting the stick reaction curve to very slow (gear menu next to behavior of right stick). Don´t start messing with the dead zone, it somehow introduces stickdrift and does the opposite of what you would expect within this game.

But "relative mose" also messes with a lot of other controlls and they don´t work reliable anymore. For example, aiming down the sights is sometimes toggled instead of held, especially if you stand still, aim and then look horizontally. Or short pressing the left cross button sometimes pulls up the thing that you recharge your flashlight with directly, instead of the flashlight, meele dosen´t work when standing still, or only two times in a row, etc. This somehow has to do with standing still/giving no prior input, also the button prompts constantly switch to keyboard/mouse vs. controller. Unplugging keboard/mouse dosen´t help.

Lastly, changing values in the user.cfg file in the save game folder, like suggested by some users, also does NOT work for me as of 09/2024 (Enhanced Versino), it dosen´t actually change anything in the game after saving and gets overwritten as soon as you closed the game.

cheers!

Thank god I found this thread.
The controller analog sensitivity was driving me friggin NUTS!
The diagonal directions having different speeds, plus the fact that the camera movement move slow and then, suddenly speeds up while in the middle of a turn was pissing me off, making me always over aim on targets, making me miss a lot with the sudden change in camera speed. It was driving me nuts that I was going to stop playing entirely if I could fand a way to resolve this.

I dont use steam controller overlay but a remapping program called ReWASD
So I just substituted to the controller right analog controller original functions and replaced them with the mouse camera control functions and now its perfect.

Moving the camera in all directions at a constant speed.
